So:

West Ham away
Arsenal away
Chelsea home
Swansea away
Leicester away
Bournemouth home
Everton away
Man City home

A very tough run in, but one that - with a capable manager who has a good start - we can pick up enough points from.

West Ham, Swansea and Bournemouth are winnable. Everton and Leicester a bit more difficult but they could already be on the beach when we play them. We then need to hope Arsenal and/or Chelsea gift us like they have some of our rivals.

I don’t even want to think about needing to beat City on the final day.

Also, just read Jeremy Wilson’s article on the sacking and he mentions in there that we are looking at Silva but has tweeted that we aren’t <confused>

How good a manager is Pahars? We know he loves the club and would be able to inspire some pride into the team, and he would have the fans onside from the start, but would this be too much of a step up for him?

I 100% agree with the board in getting someone in with PL experience at least in the short term. I wouldn't want Hughes for a long period but I would certainly take him now.

I’d just be looking at West Ham. New manager, old manager, no manager, we need to win that one to have a chance.

That's why he had to go now, really. We couldn't go into that game with an aura of despair hanging over the club - we need West Ham to be the ones in meltdown, with fans and players quite literally ripping into each other..

I am disappointed that a manager is not lined up....I thought getting someone in place was the only thing holding up MP2 leaving. We need a manager to turn us round....it is still in our own hands (just) and we have a good squad. As in Redknapp's tenure, we have a team that should have been safe. People shouldn't panic if the new manager is not a perfect fit...horses for courses. We need the manager we need....does not mean that we can't have a new manager in a year or two when our needs change. Would be delighted to get a man who avoids relegation and gives us a season or two of respectability....we can always revert to being genius later. :)

At least if we do manage to stay up the new manager should hopefully get a chance to evaluate his squad before the summer window. We've not managed that since the start of Koemans second season.
