So you got a loan then? You certainly didnt have money to burn.
Or it was a calculated risk knowing we have extra TV money and CL money to come in?
I think we've spent the Suarez money.
So you got a loan then? You certainly didnt have money to burn.
Other than the fact BR said that all the signings he made (except Balotelli) would have been made regardless of Suarez being sold and were not contingent on him being sold
He had to say that, as you'd bought them all in before the Suarez sale was complete, to admit anything else would have been admitting that you'd accepted his departure a good while previous to the deal being announced.
There was no way your budget was ever going to be £100m net last summer
You did exactly what Spurs did the previous summer i.e. spend the money first and then announce the sale, to believe anything other is naive.
Look actually if you just analyse their side they got the key signings right but have a small squad but kept the players like clyne, fonte (according to them) Sneiderlin and both tadic, alderweird, and pelle... forester was in and wanyama too so they had work done from previous on that front.
They are just well organised and no nonsense at the back.
If you list their first 11..
It might look great now but if it translates into 6th by the end its a job well done but its still only a one off.
I mean c'mon... everton have tightened the belt many many times over the years and the one year they have a high net spend they had a poor start but are on the way back up too. I'd HALF back everton to catch southampton by the end.
Now I've said just today I'd rather southampton got 4th than arsenal but hey if everton catch them up... good on them too. I'd rather one of them two get there than the perennial arsenal jokes.
Forster
Clyne alderweird Fonte Bertrand (on loan, nobodies giving him credit)
Schneiderlin Wanyama Cork
J Rod/Mane Pelle Tadic
Just for example.
Cork could be dropped to play both jay roriguez and mane but thats not occured yet.
Contrast to 12 months ago.
Boruc
Clyne Lovern Fonte shaw
Schneiderlin Cork Rameriez?
J Rod Lambert Lallana
So.... they SOLD 5 first team players, had already bought wanyama and forester so they had time to settle in they then bought 3 good uns and loaned on full back in!
thats all they did, got the 3 signings right... have they a huge squad... no they do not.
So all in all they'd a solid screen in front of a back 5 thats only got 2 new new members in it... they bought safely there. and they only added tadic and pelle to their attacking line ups but they've worked.
Contrast to lfc throwing stuff at a wall and hoping.. plus changing fomrations and seeing gerrard bottle it and lose all movement too.

We lost our best player and have the CL to contend with yet we were only allowed to spend a net £30m. In effect out of the clubs pocket. That's what seems hard to believe, especially when were lead to believe there was a £60m warchest.
Told you all Bertrand was good.
My final thoughts, well for now anyway..............
My thoughts are a combination of poor decisions made by Rodgers and his staff.
Firstly there was no clear target identified to replace Suarez and his contribution to last season was underestimated.
Secondly too many young players with "potential" were bought instead of seasoned players who would have slotted in easily and improved the first team.
The center back problem, we still have no leader, no communicator a Fonte was needed more than a Lovren if you get what I mean.
Gerrard is quite simply too old and his performances are not good enough but he starts nearly every game.
Balotelli is not, never has been and never will be any good he is the noose that Rodgers slipped around his own neck.
So to me a combination of things have lead to this seasons poor start, who's to blame? It has to be the manager, can he turn it around? Sadly I don't think he got the right people helping him in order for him to do this.
Now he's building his own team for the first time we'll see how good he is.
He's already forked out £200 million so I would say this is his team and he needs to make it work.
Its not his own team until all eleven players are his own signings![]()

Next Permanent Liverpool Manager
Blanc 6/1
Benitez 6/1
Klopp 6/1
Martinez 6/1
O'Neill 6/1
Redknapp 8/1
that is good... redknapp... funny!
This may never happen for any manager.
There will always be one or two players good enough and who the manager would want to keep. Mourinho had never had his own team at Real because Ronaldo was there or Van Gaal will never have his team as Rooney is around ?
Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp says he could see himself managing an English club because he can speak the language, but refused to confirm whether he has been approached by a Premier League side.
Klopp says he will not speak about his long-term future ahead of the two sides' Champions League clash on Wednesday.
The German has been linked with taking over at the Emirates.
Interesting. I'd say he'd be more likely to want to go to Arsenal but I think Wenger's job is safer than Rodgers atm.
