Let’s bear in mind Mowbray has just spent 5 years at a championship club whose fans liked him, despite hardly any backing from ownership, and consolidated them in the division.

and he resigned, he wasn’t sacked. Every time Neil has managed in the championship he’s got himself sacked.

This idea that Neil was some management expert and Mowbray is a backwards step is just convoluted.
Fair point that marra

I think he’s a good appointment but I feel we’ll be looking for another manager in 24 months time. This season was all about stabilising as a club in the Championship again and building on the core group we have… he’ll do that for me. See what the terms of his deal are, he may not be given a lengthy deal.

realistically 24 months is fine isn’t it.

the next couple of years are going to be a slog in this division. It allows us to build slowly to a point where a more exciting appointment is less risky and also more tenable.

This feels like a "Moyes is a far better manager than Allardyce" argument

wont be that long will be 8 months time

I hate David Moyes but one of those two has been out of work a long time and the other one managing in the Europa League for the last two… so…
Aye I know. Was just joshing. I think Mowbray is a solid enough appointment I just hope we have 2 or 3 deals lined up because even Fergie would struggle to work miracles with a squad this thin

Well for what it's worth he'll do for me.
We just need to feel our feet in this league, we got off to a good start but dropped off a bit lately. Can see Mowbray getting us nice a comfortably lower end of top ten which in the real world would be great after our past 4 seasons.
Not the most exciting but we've had our slice of that this year so steady away will do me.
Crawl before you walk etc.

You do know we don't do boring seasons?! It'll be one end or the other.

we've just come back from 4 years in league1 after back to back relegations, i would happily take a couple of chilled years in the championship to get are feet back on the ground

tragic appointment and come the end of the season we search again

Experienced championship manager who had his teams comfortably finishing above mid table in the very recent past. Fail to see the problem here. Safe pair of hands while we establish ourselves in the championship. Now is not the time to "experiment" with young up and coming managers. Build back slowly but surely with the right foundations.

and we search again with a team of young exciting players who have a full championship season under the belt, and a better chance of the top 6

With the players we have i dont think we go down, if anything more chance of that now

all that matters this season is survival
