I have nothing at all against Beckham, in fact I'm sure he's a lovely bloke. He's not the right person to be the next England manager though.

Yes and no. I personally think Roy is a highly intelligent man, but possibly too stuck in his ways to push England forward in the style they need to play to be effective. I also thought his substitutions and use of them showed a bizarre lack of appreciation of the strengths and otherwise available to him.
Also playing Lallana in nearly all the games leading up to the club, leading everyone to rave (rightly) about what he brings to the team, then only playing him in dribs and drabs in the games that matter......well.......
Roy is a good bloke and an intelligent one too. But tactically, he is being overtaken. The other thing is that he might be a bit too nice for his own good.
I see that UN representative Jose Mourinho has agreed with a suggestion that all Premier League players should donate a week's wages to Africa's less fortunate, once per season. It's a drop in the ocean, as far as getting a life for the poverty stricken, but it would be a nice gesture. Certainly, the players of the PL need some sort of positive spin to their profiles, because while their skills are being appreciated, their salaries are constantly being criticised.

BTW, he'd like to be England manager. Take him at his word. Get the annual week's salary donation sorted and get him in as England manager.
I'd keep Roy, because there's no one available that would be better than him.
We have performed better under him than capello, plus all of this time is giving Gary Neville coaching experience. I think he's a future manager. His eye for tactics, and his leadership skills are incredible.
It's not roy's fault that we don't have any central midfielders that can keep the ball and dictate a game.
