I just saw the tackle again.

THAT is not a red card offence. It's naughty and stupid and maybe cynical, but he's not coming in with force or speed or anything.

So much more better than under previous managers over the last 4 years!

Well organised, committed play. Well satisfied considering we played so long with 10. Still think we have tough fixtures coming but I'm not unhappy with the base, even if we could easily purge 90% of the squad and swap them for the leftover genitals from a man-woman gender change.

Not too fussed with that, all things considered. Unlucky to concede how we did, and thought we defended brilliantly for the most part.

As much as I like the look of Mitrovic, and I'm still not sure about the straight red, he has got himself a reputation and referees are going to act based on it unfortunately, so he has no-one to blame but himself. He needs to think long and hard about himself as a player over the next month, as right now he simply doesn't deserve to be in our squad, as he is letting us down constantly.

It was a red card cause the red gave one. The laws are open to interpretation, so I think we can appeal and see if someone else feels differently. The main point to take is we played with courage for 75 mins and limited the damage.

That was one of the best defensive displays I have seen from a Newcastle team in years, inculding against Man Utd last week. Arsenal could only score aginst 10 men via a wicked deflection off Coloccini. Mbemba was quality, Wijnaldum was very good, Krul was immense! Very good performance despite the loss! And I agree, Robbie Savage is a total c&%t! Had to mute the commnentary a good few times!

Anyone seen Leicester fans got vouchers for food and drink?

Heartache and dull footy, or heartache, dull footy AND a burger... I feel my loyalty shifting lads <laugh>

Not sure what game some people were watching (~cough~ Panthro). I only saw the second half, but from what I saw we showed lots to be encouraged about. What a transformation from last season. We'd have lost that 6-0 last year. We showed discipline in defence, still tried to move the ball about against ten men, made attacking substitutions and showed heart AND ability. We played as a team - again!!

Also, from what I saw in the second half, that was one of Haidara's best performances for us. Defensively he was excellent and that while still trying to get forward when he could. I think sometimes too many of us take our pre-conceived ideas into account when judging performances. On Thauvin, this was his first league start and it showed at times, but he also showed that he is comfortable on the ball and I am excited about what he will offer us going forward.

Have seen the red card incident now and think it was one of those that could go either way. Can understand why it was given as red, but also think if some other players had done he same it would have been yellow. The pundits on NBC now also saying they don't think it's red, so at best it is obviously one that splits opinion. Whatever the rights and wrongs though, Mitro needs to learn not to involve himself in those situations while still trying to keep the physical side of his game. I don't think we would win an appeal, so maybe the 3 games out could have a long term benefit for him. Because of his build and looks its easy to forget he's still a kid who has a lot to learn.
