I don't care tbh.

Fact we are even chatting about it 1 year after the fact is surprising. Same people constantly bringing it up, happen to also be the same clubs directly competing now with this new money. Same ol football story.

People are acting like its Red Bull buying Leipzig, like circumventing the rules to bully minnows in our league who can barely afford half time food.

Except before the takeover at Newcastle, Chelsea were owned by an oil baron, Man City owned by a state, Wolves owned by a Chinese conglomerate, Leicester owned by Thai dictators, Tottenham owned by ENIC who have their own dodgy history, Everton owned by a Russian billionaires accountant.

Like, oh woe is us, the sanctity of the beautiful game is gone.

Give me a break.

Get out and protest against the Gov dealing with Saudi, get em on a sanctions list and they'll piss off. Or do nothing

I aint virtue signalling. Maybe a little bitter that Roman was forced to sell Chelsea yet Newcastle's owners are tickety boo. You have to agree thats a bit of a double standard.
The difference is that our government need to keep Middle eastern billionaires on side because of the control they exert on Western economies, where as Russia is the enemy.
But yeah I wouldnt expect you to care about death sentence laws in the middle east, no more than I cared about the Russian oil magnates who had their companies stolen by Roman and Putin.

Thing is though, I also don't care about the Saudis. Like I'm not going to defend them for our footballs sake, yeah, the laws are barbaric. It's a desert wasteland that happens to pull black disgusting sludge from the earth, they use that to build tacky fake cities in places no human being actually wants to live.

UAE is right up there too with that ****, who have slaves toiling away in the blistering heat, building half empty offices.

Yeah, they're gross.

And its different because Roman whilst a serious player in Putins power system, wasn't directly involved in anything

While our owners aren't "technically" involved in anything on a state level, they are an arm of the state.

And the Man City owners ARE the UAE state. The two owners are the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.

So it is double standards.

But at the end of the day, British football is a rich mans game, being the poor person in the room isn't fun. And these idiots want to waste their money on us, and it means we get to watch decent football and possibly win a cup.

I'm not going to protest it.

There’s a surprise

just because I don’t glue myself to the road or hold a placard doesn’t make certain observations less valid

I’ve chosen Not606 to protest

so you ****s can observe it

How in gods green **** did this "consortium" pass the fitness test for ownership of a PL football club?
I mean, Abramovich had "appropriated" **** awarded to him by the Russian government......30 years ago, and he gets hounded from the country, yet these guys are beheading children and they are ****ing A-okay :emoticon-0148-yes:

Ridiculous

Our owners shouldn't have passed the test to own a club but let's not downplay Abramovic here. He openly said the only way to own the aluminium factories he was linked with was to kill off the factory owners, journalists, traders and affiliated businessmen ("every three days someone was murdered in that business" - one of his quotes), a few years later he owned the factories and the original owners were dead - I'm sure that's just a coincidence...

He also admitted in court to paying billions of dollars of bribes to government officials and gangsters and was going to be found guilty for that (which would have barred him from being allowed to buy Chelsea) but the law in Russia allowed him to pay a fine to the court to avoid a criminal charge - paying off an officlal to not get charged for paying off an official.

Realistically he directed the murder of tens or possibly hundreds of people, but yeah I'm sure he's a great guy who was hounded out.

I mean, none of that is proven but he probably did do most of it, but my point wasnt that Roman was a good guy, I am sure morally he was a scumbag, my point was more that Newcastles owners are just as bad or worse.

The murdering isn't proven though there isn't any chance on earth he got hold of those assetts without having people killed.

The bribing of public officials (police officers, politicians, planning authorities), working with gansters to have people convinced to agree to what he wanted (I'll stop short of using words like extorsion or torture as it wasn't admitted to the level of violence being used but I don't think gangsters convince people by just asking them nicely) and forcibly purchasing property from people who didn't want to sell was all admitted in court. Literally on public record in Russia. So some of it is definitely proven, he just understandably never admitted to sanctioning murders as he wouldn't have been allowed to buy his way out of that one :)

Like you say though that's not your main point. Newcastles owners are indeed worse, with Abramovic - whatever he did or didn't do - he was operating in a state which allowed and encouraged it so others above him in the process are also responsible for what was going on. With our owners they are the state (irrespective of what the EPL believed) and as such have to take full responsibility for all they do or allow to happen.
