New Stadium

As you all know I don't believe this should or will ever happen, but after popular request and for a bit of board humour, what name would you give the new ground or stand/seating areas that is never going to be built

So to get started a couple of names put forward already;

' The White Elephant Arena.'

'Flying Pig stand.'

I will need some time to think about mine...

I think it only right that one of the main stands should be called the 'Martin Allen Stand' especially as he is the only manager to have won us a title in over 50 years

I can understand your feeling toward Martin Allen, but in fairness shouldn't Freddie have a stand named after him as the first manager to ever win a title.
On second thoughts would fans want to sit in a 'Cox Stand'

The theory of a new ground is fine as long as the financing is sound. I can't really see how that can ever be.

As has been said many times, we can hardly half fill our existing ground, and I'm pretty sure that's primarily because of the quality of football and success of the team, not because of access and parking issues and the lack of 'retail opportunities' in the vicinity.

Instead of chucking the Centreplate money at more architects fees / planning advice / viability studies why not just re-build the Brian Moore Stand with a roof on (suitably designed to keep the noise in) and make Priestfield a nice modern ground that actually would complement the general status of the club.

When we get millions (that's tens of millions at least) chucked at us by a wealthy investor, then we can look building a new stadium to house the new expensively assembled squad.

It makes Priestfield more an intimidating place to come to and means any noise the away fans make gets lost in the air above so if we can get our fans behind the team, makes it more of a fortress.

Although you overlooked one minor factor in this pegleg. There is a certain person who will remain unnamed, this person has a two year season ticket, that season ticket you would think would entitle said person to his regular seat. Ohhhhhh no....when it rains, said person gets moved and the away support get put under his nice cosy roof.

Sometimes Mr Pegleg you need to think through these ideas more carefully

Fair point, though I was actually thinking of keeping the noise created by the Rainham End (and the rest of the home fans) in the ground. I'm sure with modern acoustic design developments there's a way of keeping away fans' noise in their section and allowing home fans' noise into the playing arena.

I also think that it will give the players a better atmosphere, and give them the feeling of playing less on a glorified park pitch.

Anyway it's all semantics as I really can't see it happening.

As far as I am aware, NO Gills' fans are able to have the same deal --- unless, of course they buy their ticket through the away team website !!

I did query it in my post. I now know it's £20 ( shocking ! ) -- but the principle of my sentiment is still relevant -albeit on a smaller scale. - it seems that nobody is exempt from being ripped off.
