Evening all. I thought I'd start a thread that gets away from the usual subjects of transfer talk, England and 'Arry, the run in and the will we/won't we Champions League places saga and bring up the planned new stadium. Does anyone know if a firm date for the start of development has been penciled in? The last update I've read involves Sainsbury's committing to a supermarket at the Northumberland project and as we all know, planning permission has been granted and compulsory purchase orders are a done deal (I believe).
With Chelsea looking to move to Battersea, it reminded me that a new higher capacity stadium is still our top priority. We need bigger gates receipts to compete at the highest level as our wage cap is caused by the unfortunate truth that the current stadium simply doesn't get enough revenue.
So when can we realistically look to having a 55,000 - 60,000 seater to take us into the big time?
