It's just the Mail and Standard decided to keep saying we'd gone over budget (when we hadn't) while also quoting completely misleading costs, which I'm sure has nothing to do with the latter being edited by a Chelsea fan and the former historically agreeing with the bloke responsible for the Holocaust so they might have problems with a club noted for its Jewish fanbase...

The last set of figures indicated the total development spend on LWH/Sainsbury's, Hotspur Way, Shop, ticket office and everything for the Stadium currently stands at £1.1 Billion. That includes absolutely everything - land (including Goods Yard and other non-football related purchases), architects' fees, legal fees, Stratford issues...you name it and probably has Wembley fees in it too.

The club don't seem to want to put a price on the stadium but Populous said £750m and that's probably as close to a definite figure we're going to get. Given borrowing and that we've still got some money left from that to start on the hotel next year, it's probably pretty accurate.

This is where it gets really confusing. When it suits them, the club chuck in Hotspur Way and the other buildings on the NPD...and in other figures they get left out. £1.1 billion DEFINITELY includes Hotspur Way and everything else. The £750m doesn't. Hotspur Way cost somewhere between £100m and £150m. That leaves £200m - £250m across other issues (including overruns).

So, it's difficult to know...but there was a general agreement on Skyscraper City that the build costs for the stadium had increased IRO £150m - probably from £600m to the £750m stated by Populous at the end of the build.

That figure would includes upgrades on a lot of areas and fittings as well as delays, price increases, etc. On a build like this, anything of the order of 20% would be seen as a very good result, so it depends upon what angle you approach it from.

In a story of opinions and guess work, you can vouch safe that the club borrowed an additional £237m in October last year but hadn't spent it all when the a/c's were published. That could all be for construction cost overruns and/or it could be because of loss of income and return of ST money and/or it could include the cost of construction of the hotel. You pays your money and takes your choice...

Some of you are far more clued up than I when it comes to the new stadium, have you heard anything remotely like this to make it sound possible? £80m a season seems like “too much”. I’d have thought £30m, possibly £40m would’ve been realistic (and superb!) but £80m would be absolutely phenomenal for the club if true.

I'd love it to be true but it's almost certainly too much. The figure that has been bandied around as DL's asking price. for a couple of years. is £40m. It's pretty much a given that we are looking for a main stadium sponsor, plus a number of other key sponsors for individual bits of the stadium - the South Stand Plaza, Goal Line Bar, retractable pitch, video screens, Hotspur Way, etc., etc.

Even then, I doubt it, even if we landed an NFL franchise or a future guaranteed promise of one, plus Sarracens indicating more big games and a deal for Joshuah fights. I think that you'd need to add some shirt sponsorship to the deal to get close to that figure. If it is the case, it would be a sensational deal even as a stadium and shirt (or shirt sleeve) deal.

Let's hope I'm wrong. Since opening, the press has been nothing short of sensational and it is widely being referred to as the best football stadium in Britain/Europe/the world. That can't hurt and will have swept away all of the shock horror nonsense during the build and delays.

After months of silence on the issue of naming rights, a regular contributor on another Spurs site, who is known to be a journalist with a red top and very rarely posts any claimed 'itk', has stated in relation to naming rights that...

"BIG news very soon. Really pleased if this comes off."

If you believe these things, it's Google (as PM'd to some other site members - that stayed quiet for several minutes!). Apparently, it would be tied into the new Google Stadia streaming service that's launching in November, doing away with the need to buy a console and providing incredible graphics compared to what's currently possible...

Don't know why it wasn't done earlier, as the place hasn't been used for weeks.
I guess they know what they're doing, though. Might be linked with other work being done.
