The costs to build the stadium are now estimated to be in the region of £750m - £1bn; an eye watering amount

If true we could be squeezed for several years unless Levy pulls a financial master stroke.

I think Levey pulls a master stroke every year which is how we built our current team with such a low net spend.

Shouldn't stadium sponsorship and the increased Premier League money cover this, though?
Add in the additional 25,000 tickets for most games and we should be able to deal with it without taking much of a hit, I think.

It's a story in The Mail on Sunday made up of incorrect information, stuff that's been common knowledge for months and 1 unattributed claim with nothing at all to substantiate it. They couldn't even be bothered to get the number of retractable pitches right.

Tellingly, no other outlets are running it. I suggest that you switch setting to 'Ignore' on this 'story'.

I've seen some repeat the Mail's story but all saying......."The Mail says that...........".

I haven't seen anyone else come out and run it without that rider. Even The Sun are making sure that it's attributed to The Mail and the Football London article isn't from Alasdair Gold and attributes it to The Mail.

They may have it absolutely right but I doubt it. Here's a link to the 2015 article that it's been cut and pasted from. It's almost word for word identical, except that they've upped the final cost figures and that depends upon what you include in those figures........Hotel, housing, etc., etc.

2 absolutely HUGE bits of steel have been craned onto site this afternoon. They're obviously part of the next level of the South Stand. If the cost of steel is going up, we may yet hit the £1 billion mark.

Great news for the Daily Wail: they've realised that, not only can they say our players are leaving en masse for the good, Christian football clubs across the land such as Chelsea and Manchester City, they can also make things up about the cost of our new stadium doubling.

Here's a few excerpts from their hatchet job...

Tottenham have more than doubled the projected cost of their new stadium to £1billion, which will make it the most expensive in Europe.
The original quoted budget was £750m, so for the cost of the stadium to "double" it would need to be £1.5bn

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy continues to talk with interested parties to help finance the record-breaking build, but the initial £400m cost has been hiked considerably.
The club never stated the project would cost £400m. The club did receive a £400m loan to help finance the cost of building back in August, as reported by the Standard at the time - and that same report clearly states the budget would be £800m.

Levy has confided to sources close to the build that the skyrocketing cost of Tottenham's new home, due to open ahead of next season, is in part due to the complexity of the project.
Sources close to Levy happen to know that nobody involved with the Northumberland Park Development said the project would cost £400m. If the Standard can get this right, why can't the Mail?

Construction work remains on schedule and the club have already spent over £100m on construction related work, according to planning documents.
So if we've spent "over £100m" on construction and an estimated £340m on land purchases, that means we've spent £440m on the project thus far. Where's the other £560m going to be spent then?

(some waffle about Rothschild that I can't be bothered to quote)
...so no sources, but a good friend of the Wail (who is not involved in our stadium project) pulled some figures out of their backside and that's good enough for a story? No need to fact check anything else, then.

The whole article [word for inaccurate word] is nearly ready to celebrate its 2nd birthday.........

........they just added new, inaccurate figures.

Are you into suffering? I just never read what these bastards write unless people like yourself point out their ****e to me. I then look at it and think what else would I expect from this despicable and disgusting organisation. If we could seriously document the damage this cretinous paper has done to our nation I'm sure we could try them for war crimes and crimes against humanity. They create envy and division throughout our society and are directly responsible for much human suffering in the UK.

    **** THEM!

It gets worse: The Sun's also regurgitating the exact same story with almost the exact same headline, which in turn has led to various clickbait merchants copy & pasting the story with the exact same errors and never bothering to check the facts.

I've always hated having the barber show me the back of my own head. It's something that you were never meant to encounter, like listening to your own speaking voice or laughter on a recording. My feeling of discomfort is doubled by having the biggest head in the entire world. Recently, when renting a Morning Suit and Top Hat, I found that I take a XXXL in hats and that most places don't make anything that big.. As I start to need one more and more, this is going to be a problem. Don't you just hate small people and their tiny heads?

The bloke who cuts what's left of my hair is an Iranian Citeh fan. He'd taken to holding the mirror so low that the crown of my head is invisible. He was not fooling me, so I told him to stop. He showed me the damage......I told him to go back to the original angle or pack it in altogether. Pleasingly my ear, nose and eyebrow hair is growing like topsy. Ageing is a land of discovery.........I'm discovering that I preferred being young and beautiful.

I hated my bald patch together with the grey hair so much about a year ago I decided to shave my head totally. Every morning I spend two or three minutes with an electric razor and its sorted. No barbers, the women prefer it, no more shampoo, soap does the job, it makes my eldest laugh and I take one size of hat smaller. I should have done it years ago.

A few years back, a mate of mine had testicular cancer and lost all of his hair after chemo. He looked like Uncle Fester from The Adams Family, a look that my wife would be keen for me to avoid. Me? I wouldn't mind too much.

please log in to view this image

I've never shaved my whole head but in the early 80's I sported a mohican a few times. In '82 I had a Joe Strummer style one that I dyed black. One day, I lay in the sun after having ingested a load of alcohol and other stuff..........I woke up a few hours later to find that I'd been laying on my side and burned one side of my head a bright pink colour......so I had one side of my head a bright white, the other bright pink and the centre a dark colour. As one of my mates pointed out [regularly], I looked like a ****ing Neapolitan ice cream.

How big does the bald spot get before it needs to be addressed?..........answers on a postcard, please.
