No official word, but if the club are tweeting about arriving early on Wednesday that indicates things are nearing the end
That Sarries "big game" will IMHO just be for starters. As I said the other day, based on their past attendance for certain fixtures + supporter demographics, once they have seen how new WHL operates for real on a match day, I suspect that they may well look to play an extra 3-4 games there. That aside, I am happy with this collaboration. Spurs and Sarries are my "local" big clubs in their respective sports, so any way that one can help the other is all good.
Nigel Wray of Saracens... “As someone brought up at White Hart Lane, for me and Saracens it’s a really special opportunity for us to partner with our fellow north Londoners, with whom we share so many of our core values...Together with Spurs we have the opportunity to create something very special in north London. I really do look forward to seeing our partnership come to life!” This doesn't sound like a 5 year wonder, more of a permanent link-up. As RDBD says, there's also likely to be 2 or 3 other games a season that would benefit from being held at the ST/\DIUM. It's also likely that this has long been in the planning and other partnerships will start to emerge in the weeks ahead.
So let's check in with the egg chucking at the new ST/\DIUM NFL Rugby Australian Rules Easter egg hunt that turned violent
So the NFL WUM wannabees are looking like utter gobsh*tes now, if the artificial surface was designed not only to meet the minimum needs of the Sarries as well as the NFL. The one big silent partner to date is AEG (of music ventures fame) . If I were them and THFC, I would be looking for a massive PR coup by getting Adele to do a gig in the summer as the first concert at new WHL.
I should imagine that the AEG link will be announced soon with a big headline act but there's a lead in time of a year or two for most acts who would fill such a space. Adele might very well be tempted to find space in her schedule this summer. I know that she's refusing to play Wembley any more and I bet she'd love to do a 'home' gig. From Saturday, I can confirm that the accoustics are bloody good, views are great and the concessions are brilliant. The footage of lighting is on a whole new leval to other stadia, so it should be a great venue for stadium gigs.
Still have not worked out whether the "slats" on the exterior are able to be open/closed as seen fit, in order to change the air flow/temperature in the corridors behind, or exist to provide nice visual lights effects as seen on the exterior outside.
Haven't watched it yet, so it might be ****. EDIT: West Ham fan talking bollocks and raging about his club's stadium move warning. EDIT 2: Hilarious ending!
