They probably also want a new CEO in place, presumably the Solis move is the catalyst for that.

This is the thing the club might have decided but depending on permissions it might have its mind made up for it.
 
i'm actually against building on Leazes, i hate seeing greenbelt destroyed, even more so if it' in a city centre. If the club can confirm SJP would be turned into a park after the new stadium has been built, that would sway my opinion.
The council has had so much of their central funding cut over the last decade or so, they're skint, and as we've seen with the Gateshead flyover, aging infrastructure can go quickly, this stadium cut lead to a nice "cash injection"

At the end of the day its 80,000 match day fans and associated revenue vs a few tree huggers and newts mate.

Money talks and with the jobs it creates the project will get waved through.

figures within the club doubt majority owner PIF will invest the required funds, despite the hierarchy’s insistence it will
