    Not sure why you'd go out of your way to avoid advertised products just so you don't think you're being brain washed. Sounds like the work of the paranoid.
    Advertising is used by every business whether its a road sign for pick your own strawberries right up to a half time at the Super Bowl tv ad. It's all about encouraging people to buy your product or service.

    At the end of the day if you try that product and it's **** you won't buy it again. Advertising may hook you in but it won't keep you.

    Instead of getting yourself into a frenzy about a product's advertising, or the size of the company, why not just buy the product that's got the best value for money?

    As it happens, I don't. :)

    That's not to say that I would never buy an Apple product. However, given that there are comparable products that are the equal or better than Apple products, that actually cost less, it's unlikely. Also, I have never been charmed by Apple's exclusive policy or the way it does business.
