Reading that, and looking at the similarities with the way his new consortium was pulled together to buy Charlton, the big question you should all be asking is - have the American contingent bought shares in the club, or just loaned money to the SMT so they could buy the club. This is what happened at Sunderland when they pretended they had billionaires involved.
While it's true that Sunderland's wonderful supporters did warn us about Charlie Methven, the fact is that there was absolutely nothing we the fans could do. Would have been different if there had been a better alternative, someone we could have supported, but no such luck. And until the Douchbag lowers his asking price for the assets it appears to me that we're unlikely to attract the type of investors the club needs for a secure future.
Maybe not, but who knows what could have been achieved with a more honest narrative. Instead of a merciless assault on our then owner and a fairytale, fantasy commentary about the new owners, things may have been different. If the gullible who were taken in by the BS had understood better what was happening, then we may have been able to influence the new owners decision as to whether to buy the club or not. Certainly we would have been able to influence a few hundred season ticket holders not to be conned out of their hard earned money by the clearly false promises of the new consortium and its imbecilic mouthpiece. And as increased revenues from fans is the main target of the consortium, then they may have thought twice about the purchase.
I agree with Smudger. The signs are not good, but the end of the transfer window is when we see what the new lot have done. Three losses on the spin is catastrophic, but I haven't seen anyone say the squad is closed up yet, so lets sit tight. As a wise man called Dazzler said on CL, if you want panic buying, theres a lad called Bogle we can probably get in. But that sort of signing is what we've seen for years.
Yeah, I stand corrected. Newport was just so typically Charlton it sort of washed over me. But I read today that Port Vale's last win at our place was in 1930, and they haven't won away since february. Awful result.
Agreed. But we still finished 8th last season and no way are we finishing that high this season unless there is a drastic change in CM’s consortium’s spending
The only hope is that this run of defeats makes them have a quick rethink about their non-spending plans.
I've read that we're looking at Andy Carroll, 34 year old serial crock and unwanted now by Reading. He'd be a perfect fit
