I'm guessing we eventually plan to have a poll on this? Could get complicated otherwise.

Yeah, my thoughts are to leave this running for a few days, then if nobody has come out as the stand out choice I'll go through it and put a poll up.

With regards PT doing it and saying he'd need to be stricter than we've been so far or it wouldn't be comfortable, there's a few saying it could do with being stricter, so that might be another thing to consider asking about before we appoint a replacement mod. We're just here to ensure the rules passed down by the owners (which are really a case of anyone can use any forum, and don't get the site into trouble with what you post) and the rules we've all agreed on for this forum are followed.

There was obviously the option of leaving it to the two remaining mods as I only got made a mod the last time OLM was going to leave the position rather than because we needed three, but given how many users there are on here we're as well to keep it at three, it's not like we're short of people who seem sensible enough to do it.

Seeing as Lammy is unfortunately serious about this, i'll put forward a few names. I don't think Nfu would do it,same with Party. So i'd say it would be cool to see any one of, Eric,istplt,jd or Craig. Tickles would be amazing but i don't suppose that's going to happen.

Right in fairness to OLM while we did have a few problems sometimes he did do a pretty decent job most of the time modding on here. While yes its a thankless job, what ever you choose to do some people will agree so will disagree. People moan if you do nothing then when you do something they moan then.

With people saying about they want to change to style of modding for the new mod, just remember what ruined the old BBC 606.

I'm just skimming the two threads for the time being and it was something I saw a few people suggest. I thought I'd mention it as an option so that if there's been more silently thinking it they can say so now because if there's a lot of people thinking it then it can be changed.

Personally I don't think it needs changing, based on the lack of PMs I get about it and the fact that most reported posts result in action being taken by one of us I think the vast majority are happy with it. But in that case everyone commenting now will be saying no and it saves time later, rather than the ones that have said it could do with being stricter thinking we've just ignored it.

As I'm a mod already I'm keeping out of the discussion as to who it should be.

Ideally from a mod's point of view though the person would be a sensible poster who tends to disagree with either DMD or me quite often on the footballing side. Things like the Barmby situation, they don't happen often, but if we'd all been heavily on Barmby's side then the modding would have been really difficult to keep control of. We let things get more heated then than we normally would because of the nature of the situation, but any anti-Barmby post that got modded would have resulted in complaints we were modding it because of the opinion rather than why it broke the rules. As it was the majority were removed by the other two (I can't even remember DMD's position on Barmby) and then I read them later in the day, so any that had been removed for that reason would have been restored.
