Please let me know where I've suggested anything is fact? I've certainly never claimed that rubbish on here doesn't "help the cause" like some shill.
To know he was keen on Birmingham towards end of season (same very solid source) and then that he turned us down does worry me a little though. Has Acun put him off?
I heard (on here no less) that this Walter bloke was a done deal, been meeting up with Acun all over Europe. Then to throw a spanner in the works within 2 days of Liam getting the tin tack 15 applications for the job landed on the mat.
Per Baz: Walter isn't done yet as of this afternoon. Club had to press ahead and make decisions as the deadline was today.
He's been out of work since February. How may job offers has he had in that time? We've seen Acun's judgement in management with the appointment of Shotta, and to a certain extent Rosenior who at the time was the pick of a very average bunch of applicants. Compare that to the Allams judgement in managers. Not good is it? If Steve Bruce is serious about throwing his name into the hat then he surely must be interviewed whilst this out of work German decides if he wants the job or not?
You're absolutely right, so perhaps for the past god knows how many months we've been served up turgid football, and people have been calling it out - perhaps those opinions shouldn't have been treated as bollocks simply because some didn't agree? What I'd describe as bollocks isn't differing opinions on what people have made of the latest match performance, but rather making out the owner makes all the signings when this has been disproven previously and recently. It just comes across as a piss poor effort to try and treat complete conjecture as fact and it simply isn't so at all.
I think you've actually got this backwards. The people thinking it's boring in turgid have expressed that it was factually boring, and some of us who have enjoyed it have merely said we have enjoyed it, so not everyone found it boring.
Think it's pretty normal for an appointment to take a bit of time. There'll be loads of details to agree even if he's dead set on coming. Which isn't to say that it's not an issue, it's just an inevitable one of changing manager. As I keep saying, and seemingly upsetting some people in doing so, I do think there's a cost to putting our recruitment and summer planning on hold whilst this is sorted, as opposed to being full steam ahead on what we've started planning over the last few months, as I'm sure LR would've been doing were he still here, and as you'd imagine other clubs will be doing, though not Norwich who on the face of it will be 2 weeks further behind us.
The owner definitely has way too much of an impact in recruitment and he's completely open with that. The likes of Tufan, Sinik & Allahyar were definitely his signings. Acun is still immune from criticism in the eyes of many though. Not informing Doch he's been released is a ****'s trick and it's not the first time it's happened. When you preach one club, one family, but treat players like ****, it just doesn't add up. Doch was a massive part of our rebuild after relegation & our first title-winning squad, it's not like he's a youth player.
There's way too much emphasis on the style of play, we're not Man City so there has to be some pragmatism. It's about getting up at all costs, not entertaining. I think back to some of the performances in the 1st year Bruce took us up and some of the away games were awful. We loved the smash and grab but they weren't pretty to watch. Peter Taylor's football wasn't particularly pleasing on the eye either.
