Easier to appoint his mate if he looks like he's tried for a more exciting option first and it wasn't his fault it didn't come off.. :bandit:
Would’ve much rather it were him to begin with… at least he has some pedigree in a decent league. Think who we will get won’t have been mentioned yet.

Absolutely. If you actually had something to back that up.

If Daws gets a similar reaction on Sunday then maybe, just maybe an overbearing owner might find that an easier appointment to make - and Yalcin his successor as managers don't last long in the modern game.

But I doubt it.

Suspect there would be some kinda PL release clause if Martins, Carlos or Carlos were to sign, and I think they've got the capital to hold out for a bigger job if they want.

Time will tell if we continue to fish on those waters, or if one of our own does well enough to make a very good case for going local.

Like not signing Pesic within 3 days last January, failing on a 10m target then signing the current league top scorer on a 'free' in summer you mean?

You're certainly ploughing a consistent narrative, if that's what you mean?

Has anyone mentioned Andy Dawson seriously?

Gets a result on Sunday then you have to ask the question surely?
There's a flip side to that.... If a new manager came in, I doubt AD would be disposed of, more likely he'd take a role back at the Academy. If he were to be given the job and it went pear shaped, he'd get sacked eventually and lose his association with the club. I couldn't see a route back into a position of authority in the club if that happened.

Just do it. Purchase, planning, design, build, financing all of which take time to agree and we're looking at the next manager signing a 3 year contract.

Just 'doing it' will take 3 years from a standing start. How long was Martins proposed contract?
Martins proposed contract was two and a half years.

Maybe that is the assurance that Daws would (sensibly) seek, and I'd say likely be granted. I can't see it being Daws though anyway.

But he's literally just been promoted from the academy and his position at the academy has been filled.

He should remain as first team coach.

I reckon we'll go back for Carvalhal or wait to see how Pedro plays out with Wolves

Why did Carvalhal drop through? Or was it just that Acun went after Pedro? (hopefully not a senior moment)

It *appears* that Pedro said no initially, so we went to Carvalhal whilst still talking to Pedro, it seems that Carvalhal was all but done but then Pedro agreed and he was main target so we went for him.

It was also a bit messy with Carvalhal's UAE club

From the different bits of journalism and piecing a few bits together that appears to be how it went down.

Most of us wanted someone with championship experience, one guy has turned us down and now there’s a clamour for daws who’s done an unsuccessful stint at scunny.
It’s too early for him, acun and tan want pl, there’s a lot of pressure there, he wouldn’t get a fair crack of the whip if it started to go wrong. They’d go back to the “big name” plan quickly

It's vital we keep Andy Dawson in the building, with new inexperienced foriegn owners, new foriegn players and probably a new foreign Manager coming in Andy represents rare club continuity.

I know why he wanted to leave and he’s got another gig now, but I feel like keeping Tony Pennock should have been more of a priority than it was.
