Latest odds from Sky Bet (a couple down).

http://www.skybet.com/football/specials/manager-specials

From the list of candidates, I think we have to look at the likes of Allen, Adams and Scott if Scally wants us up next season.

Sky bet dont price up all the candidates which is odd! Some not featured here are high on other bookmakers!

I would not place a bet on any of the Gillingham managers with those odds and have thought that from the beginning. Each day the rumours come round, the relevant manager becomes favourite. Look at all the odds for Gillingham, then look at all the odds say for Chelsea. Personally the bookies have not got a clue apart from speculation who the next Gills manager is going to be but we all know who is favourite to be the Premiership boss. Although it does not mean to say either equation is right.

I never bet on favourites and certainly would not bet at this late stage unless someone tipped me off - lol

From the very beginning I am the sort of punter that would have placed a bet on Steve Bruce and yet despite that bet being the most unlikely to come in, the bookies odds I think were only 25/1, now compare that back to the Chelsea odds 33/1 - 40/1 - 50/1 - 80/1 and they only offered me 25/1 !!. The bookies were having a laugh, hence why my money stayed in my pocket.

Lee Clark is now evens. I haven't noticed any news that could cause the change in odds, so this was pretty surprising. I thought he was a bit above our level really.

I am going to try and have a guess, then I will let you research the rest out. If Lee Clark was linked with another club and that club is now favourable within the eyes of the media and of course the bookies to be linked with an alternative manager, then Lee Clark subsequently ends up back in the running purely by calculations. Hope that makes sense.

if LEE CLARK were to happen, that would be one hell of a catch ! <ok>

only reason most fans haven't mentioned him...other than at the beginning...is because we thought he was way out of reach.

so now if he is in the mix, i'd go...
LEE CLARK
MARK ROBSON
MICKEY ADAMS
to become manager for us.

oh and mark(mozzer), you are the only guy to build steve tilson up...give it a rest and get real fella !

Why should I? I have as much right to comment as anyone else! Its a forum for god sake! We all have our opinions, some we like, some we dont! You dont like the thought of Steve Tilson being manager and I respect your point of view! You may say that you think that a candidate is a better option than my option, but you wont see me belittle you because its your opinion! Whether he is everyones favourite or not, Steve Tilson has had more views on the different forums than any other candidate!
In fact, on Gills Connect the Steve Tilson thread is the 4th most viewed topic in all the years its been going!

it's nothing to do with your opinion and who you would like, it's the fact you state...tilson is going to be named manager, though your none the wiser than anyone else !

everyone else gives a manager they want...you(mozzer) say it will be steve tilson without a doubt....yawn yawn yawn :emoticon-0113-sleep

Cheers for clearing it up brb. It would be ace if we could get a manager of his quality in but head says nope. Clark that is.

I was shocked to see Lee Clark is favourite, that would be ****ing amazing, we can't get someone like him, I thought he would maybe be in with a chance of a Premiership job as he is a great manager. He was wrongly sacked at Huddersfield and at the time was linked with a move to clubs like Leeds and has been unlucky not to get a new job, I would welcome him to Gillingham with open arms, but it won't happen, I am telling you, No chance in my eyes, but really hope I am proved wrong/

In view of ( unsubstantiated ? ) latest comments relating to the proposed Mill Hill site - I wonder what Mr.Scally has said to his candidates - about his ambitions for the club ? I wonder if any of the runners & riders for the managers job would be influenced / or pull out if the 'bad ' news is confirmed.
Or is it a case that any of the likely lads see it as a job for a couple of years ( before getting sacked if you don't succeed ) & then move on.
We need to have some positive decision on the future of the clubs stadium - it is a factor in attracting ' better ' candidates.

LEE CLARK is high up in the betting with every club outside the premiership that needs a manager...so don't read to much into it !

i agree with your stadium take on things always, think we need some positive news on the stadium side for us to move forward with a successful manager...that is looking increasingly likely that it will be away from the medway area !

Don't the odds also reflect the amount of money bet? It wouldn't take much to have a big impact on the odds considering the number of bets placed. Still would love to see Clark get the job

Ask yourselves this! How many of the candidates mentioned over the last few weeks are going to work for a club with the failed former manager hanging over his shoulder??

Technically that's how it works - so why has so much money been staked (apparently) on Clark ? This is one bet that I would love to see the punters win.

Thanks Mark for reminding everyone ( quite a few posts in this thead mention on your point. ) I fear that point will not go down well - with those candiudates who either
(a) have not had some connection with the Gills in the past
(b) those who are more strong willed.
If it was me, I would have to have a guarantee that my authority was not undermined.
