Well the Clark odds have dropped, I guess that just means nobody really has any idea. I really hope this announcement is soon! As for surprises; Stimson was a bolt out of the blue for me word only got out a couple of days before his appointment.

I have a very simple take on the situation. If you have no link to a club and no interest in a vacancy you would just come straight out and say so.

brb, i was refering to a mugs game being...betting in general mate, and i was thinking that exact thing about why would he not say no, if he's not in the mix ?!

i would love for LEE CLARK to be named gillingham fc manager, though would he have the funds he is used to and can he cut it in division two ???, along with will he be happy should players he wants turn us down etc ?

EXCITING IF CORRECT & WOULD PUT BUMS ON SEATS !!!

LETS JUST WAIT AND SEE !

BRB I completely agree, if he wasn't involved in some way then Lee Clark would have come out and said that the speculation is wrong and he hasn't been contacted by the club. My first reaction from the article on Kent News was one of excitement, he is clearly in discussions at least with Scally and we can only hope a deal can be manufactured soon! UTG

I wish managers would do that too, but it's speculation in the press that allows them to reappear in the limelight and get their names noticed. I like that Adams has said that he has no interest but in this day and age that still doesn't rule him out :(

I think the appointment of Lee Clark would be the first in years that fans almost unanimously agree with. Even with Hess, despite being a club legend there was still disagreement regarding whether he should have been given the job, but Clark it seems is a man that fans are all excited about.

I have to agree, he was who I voted for when we did the poll, think it would be the fresh start we need, if it happens a bit of a coupe for the Gills and Scally. We will know in the next few days I reckon. I dont think many fans would be be unhappy with Lee Clark getting the job.

On the ball as is the norm brb. Has there been any negative feedback on here on Lee Clark? I know all the others on the list had a few people for and against. I will be surprised if he does drop to league two though.

I would be so happy if Lee Clark is appointed, but I still doubt this will happen.

Let us hope we can get the news on to here first when it happens. Remember people that before it hits newsnow, it has to hit a site, possibly the O/S but someone else might leak the news first. So keep an eye out and be the first to grab the link and post it on not606. Please though make sure you do pick up and post that link.

I've got more links to websites than I care to list, knowing my luck I will probably still go and miss it - lol

Once again I think, in my opinion anyway, Scally is going about it in the right way by conducting his interviews and going about his business quietly. Comparing this situation with last seasons signings (Whelps and Lee in particular) this could be an indication that we could be about to get a very good manager and Scally doesn't want to alert other clubs to the calibre of the guy coming in (so that he doesn't get pinched). I think tomorrow could be the day of the announcement, following the extended bank holiday jubilee weekend but I don't know. Once again I find the wait highly frustrating.

I like your logic Gemini. Despite the ridiculous criticism Scally gets at time, you can't fault the guy in this position. He goes about his work professionally and secretly. A nightmare for us fans but it can only benefit us and I can only agree with Gemini, it would appear we may be getting a bit of a 'coup'. The wait is painful however, every time I log onto my laptop I feel compelled to check every site possible for any kind of news regarding the manager situation.
I feel like i'm 5 years old waiting for Christmas, I just hope when the presents are revealed I don't get a sock, the sock in this case being Martin Allen.

I think the sock in my mind would be a non league manager, I would not be annoyed if it was Martin Allen.

If we have Martin Allen my concern would be that we would start the season excellently, maybe be in the top 3 by christmas and then he jumps ship at Christmas when a vacant league 1 team comes calling. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

Liam that scenario could happen with any manager not just Allen. In fact the "better" the manager we get then the more likely it is that someone will come in for them if they do well.

I just want to know who the manager is so that I can get behind them whoever it is.

I don't care who Father Christmas may be - so long as he remembers to deliver the presents by next May.

does anyone really care who our next manager will be - if we get results ?

Right lee clarke would be a great capture by the club. But he's only really managed 1 club that already had a strong squad. He came in and didn't manage to get them promoted. Also with huddersfeild he probably had more resource than he would at the gills. Do we know if he has many contacts or could work on a small budget which I assume he would get here. Statistically he sounds good but that was with 1 club at 1 level. It's all good appointing a manager from a higher leage but could he cut it ? I mean guardiola has a good manager record as he has only managed the best club I the world with world class players. Even hessy could do a good job at barcelona. But could guardiola do a good job at league two. Probably not the best comapison but itsall I could think of !
