Is he the manager or not that is the question, I hope we know fully tomorrow but I think we won't know the full answer till Thursday still.

I went down to Priestfield to try and get a sense of what is going on. Luckily I bumped into the cardboard cutout who is standing by at the Medway Stand ready for a press conference. I said to him that he was being overoptimistic but he reckons enthusiasm might still get him the job. I asked if he knew what was causing the delay and he said without any hesitatation that it was all down to MacCammon. Apparently the tribunal did not go according to plan. First of all Scally did not help things by wearing a union jack and singing "There'll always be an England" while they were waiting for the Tribunal Chairman to enter the Hearing. Then guess what? The Chairman walked in and it was the Jamaican bloke who he had tried to run down on the zebra crossing outside. The Chairman said "Shut up Scally" and then turned to MacCammon and said "Hi Mark not seen you down the Black Horse lately." Anyway it only took the Tribunal 10 minutes to decide in favour of MacCammon.
Now comes the complicated bit. The tribunal decided that the only remedy was to reinstate MacCammon. Scally went apeshit at this and said there were no vacancies but the Chairman had done his homework and said of course you have...The Manager. Then they had an argument about his ability to do the job. The tribunal reckoned that MacCammon knew more about football than any of the candidates who had been mentioned in the media. Scally argued that he was looking for someone with property development experience ideally with an architectural qualification and that if he had wanted a football person he would have stuck with Hessy.
It was all deadlocked but the tribunal were adament, MacCammon as manager or pay him 3 years salary and keep him indoors if the weather is cold. Scally and Hessy stamped out with Hessy being told to see who he could sell to find the compensation or get used to working with MacCammon as his right hand man (weather permitting). Its quite a dilemma for them but Hessy has to work out some options by the time Scally gets backed from Scotland where he has heard about a club he might buy for a £ and do some property development a bit like Gillingham in 1995.
It could be an exciting few months according to cutout. The way he sees it, any new manager will be expected to mess things up by Christmas and Hessy will take over team affairs at Easter to save them from relegation. Then it will be feelgood factor all round with Hessy the hero alongside the paratroopers that Gazza has lined up to strengthen midfield. Interesting times for supporters to show their patience and contemplate doing a ground share with a team in Scotland. Cheap flights from Manston?

Thank you bristol407. I take it that the absence of a laughing smiley means that you're being serious. I had actually posted the appointment of McCammon as manager on the silly season thread - but hadn't realised the reasons why it should be taken seriously - & we're more likely to get sense from the cut-out, - perhaps it could be your editor ? <laugh>

Going by yesterday's escapades and the Allen thread. What do we reckon?

Thursday announcement?

Between Allen & Ince?

or will we have another round of media rumours again today.

Somehow I think things are now going to look pretty foolish if Allen is named manager. The worst kept secret and the fans knew 48hrs before it was officially announced. So maybe there could be another twist in all this...Constantine, Powell or Wise or (please not Tilson) and Now for something completely different...

That youtube video just about sums up this whole situation in my sense of humour.

I am hoping it is Ince but it still looks like it is Allen, I don't believe what was said yesterday by him in Kent news.

alwaysr I promise you I had not picked up your article on the MacCammon appointment when I wrote mine. Clearly we are picking up the same scent and these things can become self-fulfilling. There is no difference in the credibility of contributions on "Silly season" or "next manager".

It will be Allen, sky won't be wrong.

He is clearly not even second choice for it to have taken so long.

I am now claiming Member 1 position in the 'Thank god I didn't renew' club.

What are we all going to be talking about this time next year - I bloody well hope it won't be about appointing a new manager. ( you'd better start looking now Scally )

My take on Martin Allen...

One of biggest problems with Andy Hessenthaler and managers of his mould, is they are likeable loveable characters, always polite but I am sure they know how to throw a wobbly when needed.

However, for me that leaves an element of doubt in people's minds that is open to misinterpretation or p taking and in itself can lead to issues when people overstep the mark or do not do as you ask.

So I am more your Di Canio, Mad Dog characters, tell it as it is. It will lead to confrontations but that is the time you find out who has the biggest balls. Look what Di Canio did with Swindon, look what he did when the players stepped out of line. Of course there are elements sometimes you could leave behind, dependent on the media latest witch hunt. With Mad Dog maybe he is the sort of character that can help drag us by the scruff of the neck out of L2, am I right also he believes in using the turf to play football? I hope so, because then that would make us the perfect match.

It is probably partly why I do not want Tilson, I just feel it will be like still watching Hessy down in the dug out.

Priestfield has been baying for blood for several seasons now, whether it be the manager's or the Chairman, or even that of players. Maybe it is time we had someone with teeth that will bite back. Someone that will keep us amused for the season or at least if I believe what other people are saying until Christmas.

Having endured a lot worse sh** whilst supporting The Gills - the Club will always be bigger than those in it. I have gone on record as saying that I have arranged my death during the 'close' season - but not just yet - I am looking forward to a lot more misery yet.

Scientists in Geneva who have been running the Large Hadron Collider have discovered a particle that is consistent with the Higga bosun theory. The team were also asked to find a manager for Gillingham but they concluded that it would be just too difficult.

Are you now telling us you were making things up and there really was no cardboard cut out?

Don't get me wrong I don't want Allen and have never wanted him. However if it does happen and he gets the job I will get behind him. I think we all need to do the same and hopefully he can bring in some useful players!

brb When the Club creates an information vacuum we should be grateful to people like Cutout who do such a valiant job to fill that vacuum.

Cut out will be named tomorrow <ok>

New manager hopes to be announced by tomorrow evening, would not be drawn on who. Source via Radio Kent twitter who stated words of Paul Scally.
