jokey - the same rumours were doing the rounds on twitter yesterday. Now I have no way of knowing but I did put this situation across in so many words...

We have a very SERIOUS matter at this moment in time in regards a tribunal decision on the McCammon case. Now has this tribunal finished and are we pending a decision for example on Monday. I would assume with the serious nature of the claim that the Chairman would be preoccupied in Ashford?

Some people I know through their own admittance have taken PS comments in regards to next weeks announcement as meaning Monday. When I have seen nothing that specified that particular day.

Now talk of Monday could be right but it just seems odd timing.

I think it will be Wednesday with an afternoon announcement. Allows the manager to jump right into training and assess players face to face without having too much idle time to comment on what's going on in Ashford. There are rumours but there were rumours weeks ago before PS' second press release saying that he hoped to have someone in before pre-season. I know it's the wrong thread but did anyone happen to catch any of the evidence that was presented on Friday?

gillslad69 - in answer to your question, I never saw one new word uttered through the media in regards to Friday's proceedings (assuming the tribunal did sit on Friday). Having not sat on a tribunal before I cannot say what relevance there is to that.

Sky Bet have done their jumbling of the odds today just to keep it interesting and to reconfirm how they have as good as idea as we do about the new manager. Tilson back as favourite, Constantine now 6/1.

I think people are failing to recognise the linkage between McCammongate and the managerial announcement from a public relations point of view. The best way to dampen down interest in the outcome of the tribunal (which could be a devastating conclusion for Scally) is to have a more newsworthy announcement ie.. xxxxx is the new manager. Call me cynical if you wish but it is patently obvious what they are up to!
If the appointment is Hope Powell, which I reckon would be the best choice, I hope it is for the right footballing reasons rather than trying to show that Gillingham is a club of equal opportunity free of prejudice regardless of gender, sexual orientation or colour, whatever McCammon says.

I see your point Bristol but surely any connection is going to be self inflicted by the managerial process taking such a long time. The only way I can see your series of events working is if Hope Powell was guranteed the job from day one and Scally playing the long game wanting until the clash with the tribunial, which stretches the plausibility a little too far for me

The club doesn't need to make some publicity stunt to ensure racism isn't associated with the club. If the club has been racist then surely other black players would have stepped forward. I don't hear Dennis Oli, Gowling, Weston, Barcham, Akinfenwa etc all coming forward saying the same. In my eyes McCammon probably was treated badly but not for racially motivated reasons, most likely because he was so awful and appeared to not even care about the club. Anyway i'm going off topic, I don't think Hope Powell will get the job but think Tilson seems to be more the likely and I imagine an appointment will be made tuesday.

The players are not back in training until Friday. So technically speaking there is no need for a new manager to be in place until Thursday.

I think Steve Tilson would be a goo person to have in charge and did well at Southend and had to sell all the players at lincoln for me Tilson is the answer I don't want hope Powell done a good job but not for me.

I cannot remember the source (as it was some time ago - although i think it was on the previous thread about the mcammon 'thing') but I'm pretty sure one of the other black players said there was an element of truth to it all. I have a feeling that it may have been Gowling?

To keep this on topic - I'm not entirely sure I care who the new manager is anymore, I just want it over and done with so we can all get behind him (or her) and get on with it...

Yeah it was Gowling, he said on Twitter that there was some truth in what McCammon said.

so thats what scally meant by travelling the length and breath of the country and setting off round the world in 80 days...TO COME UP WITH TILSON, ALLEN OR MILLEN ???...i truly hope it doesn't happen !!!

if it's to be so paul scally, what a waste of time you have spent fooling everyone that you actually want the best for gillingham fc, yet costing your team another season of hope and longterm success !

JUST HOPE IT REALLY ISN'T SO, and that scally can surprise himself...along with us fans !!!

Batchie and BSG, you are being incredibly naiive. The selection process was completed long ago but obviously they have to wait for the tribunal verdict. The stakes are high, a racial discrimination verdict would make Gills pariahs and Scally would be booted out to save the club. An unfair dismissal could be shrugged off much more easily.
So to counter these threats Scally can distract attention with a managerial appointment. If its racial discrimination at the tribunal then out comes Hope Powell, the perfect antidote (female, black and gay....who said there was discrimination at Priestfield) and she is probably the best candidate anyway. If its unfair dismissal, well it looks like Tilson decent candidate, used to having no money, will win enough home games to shut the fans up and lose enough away games to steer clear of the dangers of promotion.
If the tribunal finds no case to answer? That could be interesting!

Bristol I maybe being naive but I can't see your conspiracy theory being plausible. Why would two very good candidates in Powell and Tilson be willing to be merely pawns in Scally's machiavellian-type scheme to protect his name? No doubt both potential managers have applied for other jobs, unless they see Gillingham the pinnicle of the footballing pyramid why would they put themself out of the market based on a decision of a tribunal? Also why would Powell allow this to run on so far that it clashes with her Olympic duties? None of it holds water unless Scally is some how the head of an alien invasion with mind control techniques where he is able to keep two people believing that the Gillingham job is worth waiting for...

    Watch the skies!

BSG I'm with you on this one on the conspiracy theory. I still can't work out why the delay? Powell has a big thing going on with the Olympics and won't be able to take up the role at Gillingham until after that has finished meaning she would miss all of preseason, this for me is a no go as it would put us 6 weeks further behind everybody else. With Tilson I still feel as if he would be the back up plan for the reserve plan of plan B. A money saving exercise? Please, dear lord give me strength. If that was the case why would Tilson A, wait around and B, put up with it?

The Tribunal may have been a distraction to Scally but surely it can't have effected the announcement of the new manager that much? I really don't know any more. I have almost given up on an exciting managerial announcement and have resigned myself to the pending disappointment.

Have to agree with what has been said above me.

Although I am ready for dissapointment it makes no sense to have waited so long if it is Tilson or Allen, both could of been in place a long while ago, at least announced but not formally taking the role till 1st July.

I wonder if it is a left field name, someone who maybe has been rumoured, Powell, Contastantine, Ince?!?
