At this point, I'm pretty sure he's deliberately being fed the club line to help shape discussion on social media & forums like this one, and knows it. Less "ITK", more "Here's stuff we can't officially say - go and tell people".

Exactly. The Perreira "committing" to his current club was in the public domain yesterday before Jack Schitt posted his post.

I agree with you though. The "neighbour he hasn't seen for a few years" is either not his neighbour and really someone in Saints that is giving him what they want to be out there or the neighbour doesn't exist and like asking advice "for a friend" the source is Jack Schitt.

This is how lots of companies and political movements work these days. They feed people the information to put into the public domain before they can say anything. Sometimes it is false information to divert attention, sometimes it is real information put out there to get opponents saying BS you lot are dreaming. Sometimes it is just to gauge opinion and sometimes it is just to get it out earlier than they could.

It is very beneficial to organisations to get that Lawrenson moment of "he'll never go there" because it puts eggs on faces and makes your organisation look much better than it did.

It was such a long piece, he would have need shorthand to take it down. But let's give him the benefit of the doubt and say Mr X told him all that....it could still be a lot of hearsay. Unless you are on the board or a PA to a board member, you will not know all the facts....and even then your facts are coloured by your experience. There may have been a lot of niggles with Koeman...just because you are dealing with human beings....but none stopped them wanting him to stay. Once he decided not to stay, those niggles become magnified.

That's pretty much every ITK, from my personal experience. You get told 'you can say this, but hold back on saying this' or 'yeah it's fine for you to repeat what I've said, but I can't tell you any more than that for now', generally speaking.

This is why I take every ITK source of information with a pinch of salt. I don't mind running with it, having fun with it, as long as I or people don't actually think it belongs with reality. The reality is where Les Reed says we've appointed this bloke. That's when we can start basing something on fact again.

What I meant is that this guy seems to be spinning the club line to the point that it feels like he's more club PR than a fan that's been leaked info. Some big companies pay people to do this type of thing.

I don't think we've gone that far - but it's he's providing plausible deniability.

I hope Saints know what they're doing.

If they're seen to be encouraging Pellegrini speculation on club channels, then he doesn't come, a lot of people will be disappointed.

Equally, I'd feel sorry for any new manager coming in under the shadow of a man who actually never managed the club.

It the sort of legal thing that matters to lawyers drawing up contracts? Just an idle thought, I haven't a clue about these things myself.

I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think there would be anything to stop Pellegrini signing a contract today, to start his employment after his Man City contract expires.

This is where Saints doing their business quietly strategy can backfire on them. What is the best way to go about business.? SFC are not ScrewFix or B&Q, where the appointment of a departmental manager would be met with indifference to the vast majority of the public. They operate in the open world of sport and entertainment. People want to know, and in the absence of fact they will listen and take notice of anyone who will provide a plausible bit of spin.

Bit like the vote tomorrow. ;)

I don't want to scare anybody but what if we are waiting for Roy Hodgson to get the sack .................................. ? <monster>
