The one thing that this whole sorry affair will have done, is to make it a lot harder for any new appointment to win the hearts and minds of the fan base, although battle hardened by a series of set backs, we now have the additional problem about who we can trust. I hope that we are patient and give our full backing and support to whoever it is, that would be in both of our interests.

I don't think it will be a case of winning trust anymore.
I won't trust anyone to stay long term again after this. I'll just stand back and see how we get on

I'll be honest, and I admit this is more than likely completely the wrong view, but I don't trust anyone who has a lot of money and couple this with fame and I doubly don't trust.

I do not admire anyone involved in professional football, players on the pitch during a game yes, off the pitch no.

So the manager and players, m'eh and do you know how much they care about my opinion.......

Highlights my point, you still have to give the impression that you can trust them or the atmosphere will never improve and we will suffer as a result through lack of confidence in our leader, standing back won't hack it.

Don't think it will effect the atmosphere...results will always be the biggest factor. I'm sure we will all be cautious should we find ourselves in similar contract extension scenario, but I don't think that will change a stadium atmosphere

I'm sad to say I pretty much agree with this.

But then there's still Letiss. And Mick Channon.

From Saints web saying that the Sevilla boss resigned yesterday. I would have though unlikely he'd come here if he turned Everton down...we can offer Europe but we can't offer the silly money that the Blues can. Looks like he is off to PSG.

I still feel FDB is the front runner despite the earlier denial on talks (which would have been inappropriate as we already had a a manager at the time...). That said, Emery is clearly a good candidate but if he does go to PSG then that leaves a very talented Laurent Blanc available does it not?

Sky been outside SMS, so their interest has moved on to us....pointing out that we are a very attractive club (so they must have seen some pictures of our fans...Fats must have been behind a large tree) with European football this season. Benali saying that we should look for a manager interested in our youth set up. They said that Saints have a short list, but will take their time as they want someone to take us forward.

I think it could be AVB, his agentdline about taking 6 months off could have been cover until £03man had gone and this mess has been sorted
If it is AVB (who I'd welcome) that'll make for a great spin. "Saints tempted the Portuguese manager away from time off with his family with the attractive youth set up and European football" or whatever.

Still think AVB would be my personal first choice. Valverde has a great record! Would he come to us though. Bilbao are a big club.

I would also add, that I was at the Camp Nou in January, and saw his Bilbao team absolutely torn to shreds. They were a tactical shambles throughout that game - (although many teams would be, down to ten men against Barca!)

Spanish spiritual sister club to an southern English Premier League club, so they all say.
