Personally, I don't think that anyone will be Everton bound. Even Koeman has said that it will be awkward (or some such word) to buy any players from Southampton - it obviously may not stop them but they'd have to spend a big chunk of their oft-quoted £100mill for Forster.

He said he didn't want to start any [more] fights with Southampton. That tells you something about the last couple of months of his tenure.

What I read from that is that the board are not currently 'unified' on either Pellegrini or Puel being the right man, and we're holding out incase someone better comes along (knocked out of Euros/Copa, or on a bigger clubs shortlist but rejected).

Pellegrini and Puel must feel special right now, a bit like a girl you're only 'seeing' but don't really want to promote to girlfriend status unless you strike out with the hotter ones.

I really don't see the last day of June as an issue for Pellegrini, he will be out of contract, we have no compensation to pay and he is looking for a job.

He hasn't been named yet because:

a) He hasn't been offered the job
b) He is still negotiating for the job
c) He doesn't want the job

I may be a little simplistic and there may be other reasons but I cant think of them and I'm tired. Even so, I'm sure it isn't due to his current contract. For a job his employer found a replacement. While he was still working there. (maybe the City board aren't as good at negotiating outgoing managers that may be surplus to requirements as our board)...

I never took the deadline seriously....when asked, they no doubt said that it would be nice to get the manager in before the team returned, but they won't appoint the wrong person just to meet a deadline. They may just be calming us down....expect an appointment within 24 hours. :)

Blogger on Ugly Inside seems to think it is between Pellegrini and Klinsmann, but also seems to think we have offered Our Manuel (as I like to think of him) a three year contract. Surely, if that is the case, Jurgen is a back up. Would Saints withdraw an offer to Pellegrini? Proper question....have no idea how these things work. Perhaps Pellegrini is dithering. And what's happened to Puel?

Not sure there's anyone in the Euros that I'd take ahead of Pellegrini to be honest. I don't know enough re Copa to comment, but suspect same would be true.

My personal reaction to Klinsmann is even more meh than when Koeman was looking like the front runner. That was based off what I had seen of him in the past i.e. Benfica and Valencia and even though the results were good those spells of long bad runs just worried me.

As for Klinsmann, the guy has no club experience except 1 season of under performing. We may as well go for an up and coming championship manager that has at least shown a couple of years of improvement.
