We just had a good couple of seasons and lost players, maybe a bad one will keep the bigger teams away?
"I've done my research and from what I've read I don't rate him" Go ahead and translate that into: "I've read his Wikipedia page and he hasn't won many trophies"
People attacking people for expressing an opinion need to back the hell down. This is an outlet of discussion, not a agreement panel.
Anyway, Claude's here now, he's signed the paperwork and we're merely hours away from the confirmation. He has my support. I didn't really know much about him, heard his name in passing on Football Manager, but have read some really positive stuff from people who know far more about French football than me. His stats aren't 'bad' either. Welcome to Saints, Claude. Hope you ram the words back down people's throats, much as other previous arrivals have.
Eric Black, I would assume, will be useful to Claude in adapting to life in Britain as well as merely on the training ground during sessions.
How about bookmarking it for after we've finished a bad season and/or/if after Claude has been sacked?
I miss Sammy Lee already. That's Sammy Lee who pretty much everyone on this board praised for his positivity. But anyone who worries Eric Black with no decent English track record is obviously grasping at straws... Hope they are both great, but I bet they are the cheap option,
No, but I'm beginning to thin our Tom is a little bit over-excitable. Almost bipolar in his responses sometimes.
best case scenario, he has a few good years and gets poached by a mid table team. So either way we lose
And we will exercise our right to point out when we think people expressing their opinion are being unnecessarily negative. We're just expressing our opinion, in addition for sticking up for the club we support.
Sometimes sticking up for the club you support is standing up to say "that thing you did was a bad move". Personally, I think that Puel and Black is one million miles ftom a dream team - so if anyone wants to stand up and say "bad call" then good on them for loving the club enough to object.
Nothing wrong with saying bad call. Just as there's nothing wrong with saying "I think you saying bad call is overtly negative, particularly when they haven't even arrived at the club", whilst also questioning *why* someone thinks it's a bad call.
Sad to see Sammy Lee go, but Eric Black gets my vote (even if his record of coaching has been at unsuccessful clubs - remember he wasn't the manager guys): played in and scored first goal in the '83 European Cup winners cup final against Real Madrid for the Dons.
I see no reason to be miserable before we have something to be miserable about. The board has undoubtedly had quite a few possible applicants and has selected Puel, so he must have something going for him. From what we've read, he is our style of manager. Can we be 100% sure he will be a success....no, because nothing in life is certain, but Nigel, Mauricio and Snake Features were.
