Genuinely how does getting reading to 6th despite not being able to sign players not impress you?

Dont talk ****e

Just isn’t what this club needs at the moment we need someone who has gotten promoted and has serious clout at this level.

its hardly ****e Brady when it’s happened with Rosie and Walter.

It all sounds very promising. I certainly like what he’s saying about adaptability and flexibility depending on opponents and tactics etc.
That’s where Walter was sadly lacking and to a lesser extent LR too.
Yep we play Wednesday and we give Bannan the whole of the middle of the pitch , he’s still got more passing and control than most in the C’ship - but we ignored that !

I presume the fact that we are due to start negotiations with Reading means Selles was interviewed as part of the 6.

We need someone to firstly steady the ship. Like it or not the sacking of Rosenior and hiring of Walter has set us back 2 years. We need to ensure we are a championship team first and foremost next year.

Beyond that it’s anyone’s guess how any manager would do. As has been pointed out it’s incredibly rare managers repeat the feat of gaining promotion out of this league. Wilder is probably the best at it right now.

Out of the 3 that did it last year none of them had ever got promoted out of the championship and only 1 had a promotion on his CV. Serial winner Farke actually bottled it with the best team in the league.

We need someone to come in and coach these players to be better than what they currently are and Selles clearly has the ability to do that turning Reading into a playoff team despite spending £30m less than their league counterparts Birmingham.

He may crash and burn I have no doubt. There’s no guarantees. But this isn’t some wild foreign manager for Timbuktu league. He’s worked in England and understands it.

I would assume we’ve agreed terms with Selles. Like dealing with players we would have got permission then agreed terms with Selles now opening negotiations.

I may be wrong but that’s a guess

I guess compensation is based on the 2 years left on his contract. Surely his salary plays a part (shows their value of him).

Obviously all guess work.

As soon as permission is granted the ball is firmly in Ruben’s court. He must of told them at Reading he’s interested, looks like he might be our next manager/ head coach. Also apparently we’ve already interviewed some candidates, so for us to ask permission to talk to him would probably mean they are not what we are looking for….
