That is a good question, I would say about 50/50
Having got to the top early last season I would have said yes, maybe not all individually, but as a collective unit yes, the close season incomers have upped that slightly I’d say, so as a squad in whole yes I think we’re a championship team, however under Ainsworth the team spirit was badly fractured in my opinion.
It now remains to be seen if Martí can rebuild the team spirit quick enough to get a bloody good tune out of them !!!
I’m feeling positive to be honest, anybody that learnt his trade under Cruyff cannot be an idiot ! Surely.

In true QPR spirit, I'm having a welcoming party for our new manager.

I'm having a martini for Marti!

Think l've already welcomed his backroom staff, hic!

He must have a big family, this book l have, says top 50 gin martini's, hic!
Everybody's welcome!

Does a five year deal indicate complete confidence of survival or does it mean he's happy to guide us back from League 1.

One think I'm confident about is an energised Smyth causing havoc. Surely he's just the sort of player this fella will turn into something potentially special?
It's 100% to ensure we get good compensation should he do a good job and other teams come knocking at our door wanting his services !

Sorry lads, I made up the bit about a 5 year deal, because it sounded stupid enough for our owners to do.

I have no idea how long his contract is. Some rumour on X that’s it’s 3 years, which I hope includes this season.
Thanks, I have just informed over 1,000 supporters; so my street cred has fallen through the floor!!!

Our rabble ...as you call them, were bought in to play football, some by Warburton, some by Beale, some we developed ourselves.

They were not built to play hoof ball, and be aggressive thugs.

Quite a few of them will be happy to play a calmer, more possession based form of football.
It said in the managers blurb he likes to play with 2 fluid no10s. We have some excellent no10s waiting to play like that.

I can see Chair, Willock, Richards and Smyth thriving.

Get all our players back from suspension...
And I can see a steady climb up the table.

How we are going to pay for this without breaching FFP, I have no idea though[/QUOTE]
Richards? You must have seen a lot more of him than the rest of us

"Football is a sport, and so of course we need to win...but it is important how we win." He then goes on to talk about the introduction of three at the back with wing backs, and how different formations have been introduced over the years, positioning and all he learnt under Yohan Cruyff at Barca.

Sounds like a football genius, well connected across Europe and with an obvious plan. No disrespect to those who have come before, but chalk and cheese. Only question is if the players will respond positively.
Yes but there's nothing new or particularly inspiring about 3 at the back with wingbacks. In fact even Ainsworth played that from time to time

Agreed, and as with all these things, easy to say the right things in a press conference...but if you then play three at the back, with wing backs and still hoof the ball forward to Armstrong, it really makes no difference. I guess what came across listening to him is that he is a thinker who wants his team to play good football, and is willing to experiment with different formations and change things around until he gets it right. I'd rather that than sticking to your guns, and not being willing to change. As I say though, easy to talk the talk...he and his team need to walk the walk, and quickly!

Whittingham’s take. Very positive video included. He says things (in perfect English) like ‘once we have one, we go for two then three goals’ and ‘keep it on the ground’, and ‘if we play the football we can play we will smash them. We will ****ing smash them’ (no supply teacher stuff @bobmid), lets his senior players take a lead, nodding quietly when they talk…….

……but he plays Tika Taka when possible which will test the ability of some of our players and the patience of some of our fans.

Getting a tune out of Chair and Willock might be the key. I had given up on Willock but fingers crossed a coach who wants to play football might reboot him.
Hope so. But I'm not ready or willing to excuse or explain away Willock's lack of effort or forgive his unwillingness to play his part because of some delusions to being a football purist who regards some managers' football as beneath him.

Well done for having any street cred to start with Flanman. Just blame someone else for messing up (it’s the way of football and business anyway).

I guess Ainsworth might have been put on gardening leave, thereby deferring most of the payoff until next year. The stadium naming revenue would then cover the extra costs this year.

The Matrade deal is £1.2 million over 3 years.

Cifuentes is already showing signs of being a lucky charm. He doesn't have to worry about playing Dozy for at least one game. Hopefully he'll notice on the training ground that Andre is the worst to play in the hoops since Zesh Rehman and we never have to see him again. This is my benchmark for the standard of the new manager... :-)
