"Others could never understand".

That's it, in a nutshell GF. I actually feel sorry for people who support clubs other than where they come from. They'll never feel what we feel when surrounded by our own. That sense of belonging, irregardless of what your clubs history or which division your in and that goes for every fan that supports they're home town club.

There’s also a lot to be said for mediocrity.

Whilst we're on the subject of club shirts we had and clubs we reckoned we supported as kids. I went through way too many. I was a Newcastle fan because I liked the shirts. Then I was a Villa fan, I liked the shirts, I went through quite a few. It seems funny to me now that I decided I was a Celtic fan because they wore green and white hoops, the same colour as my junior school rugby team I played for.

Thing is though, I never had any one of those shirts, because my Dad wouldn't buy me one. He said they were too expensive or just mumbled something incoherent.

Then he took me to Boothferry Park (Only because my Mam finally allowed him to), and being blown away by the experience, I nagged him for a City shirt. The following weekend I had my first football shirt. A Hull City football shirt.

I can't thank you enough Dad x

My first City shirt. 1976.

One of the lads who used to go in the Well was given one of those after a game,
I think though not 100% sure, by George Lyall. Think it was a friendly or testimonial. A new thing then. When he rolled up at the next game he had his collar felt by the plod as it had a number on the back and they thought he must have nicked it. His response of if he came to a game in an easily identifiable nicked shirt he would be as stupid as they were didn’t go down well.
When you think of the fuss about names and badges nowadays it was another 3 seasons before the words Hull City appeared on a shirt for the first time in our history.

Our 93 kit has appeared as part of an article about Huddersfield’s new kit. They don’t appear to like it much!

Got to say, I do like the new Man City away kit. I do wonder what a lot of kit designers think they’re up to when they design, most of them are ****e.

That City kit gets better with every passing season.

I love that Nigeria kit.

The FA have advised Huddersfield that they believe their new shirt breaches the sponsorship rules and if so, they will not be allowed to play in it.

Huddersfield say the shirt will go on sale on Saturday and still nobody is sure if it's a stunt or not.

I think it's a stunt. Paddy Power are well known for it.
