Just imagine that Nicola comes on this site (a stretch I know) and sees the designs on here. He could be tearing his hair out if our guesses look better than the real thing.
My feeling about the inaccuracy of the hearsay kit is that it isn't as close to the real thing as several are making out. I reserve my right to chuckle at the outcome.
6 o'clock....good that gives us enough time to get them new signings in for there picture in the new strip...
I wouldn't like to see to thin a white stripe but we will all know at 6pm Any wagers on how close the possible strip is
That's my gut feeling too, but hey it hardly matters. I've not really understood all the fuss about what it might look like (and I don't just mean the fuss on here). I've never been bothered, and have always been happy and content to just wait and see. If I like it, I'll buy it (didn't buy one last season), and if I don't, then I wont.
Had a dream last night that when the new kits were unveiled, the strip was being worn by Steven Davis, with Jack Butland modelling the keeper's kit.
I dreamt it was red with maroon stripes...well dodgy. And I interrupted Cortese as he was speaking...scary!
So red shirt with presumably white shorts and black socks. Mmm... Man Utd anyone? Personally not over the moon with this choice, would prefer the white with red pinstripes personally. Still, i'm just glad they're trying to be original, makes a change from some teams who literally do nothing but change the sponsors. Dull.
The last two seasons have seen Saints playing in great kit. Nicola in both cases stuck with tradition to the point of going back to our first shirt for the 125th annivesary and I thought last season's shirt was one of the best for a long time. From a personal point of view I would stick with the nostalgia theme and go for the shirt we wore in the first season of the Premier League. I cannot believe for one moment that Nicola would go for the shirt you are all suggesting as I would consider that a move not to far off what has happened at Cardiff. To put it bluntly the bloody thing looks ghastly and has no connection with our history!
Not strictly true. It's red, with white stripes too. And if you always stuck to tradition and history we'd still be wearing the sash and would never have changed it since 1885.
It's nothing like what happened at Cardiff? Blue to red is very different to red and white to red and slightly less white?! This proposed shirt is less of a change than normal stripes to a sash, at any rate, and I loved the sash. But, did I love the sash because we played in it a hundred and twenty years ago for a couple of years? No, because tradition means nothing, I loved it because it looked classy, as this one does. Nobody really gives a toss about tradition as long as the kit looks nice. Quarters are historical for Southampton and I'd despise a return to that!
Actually we have had a number of shirts without stripes over the years. See here: http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Southampton/Southampton.htm My first kit was the the 1980s draper tools shirt = which i loved
