For balance, this is from the same interview:

“Mike [Dodds] helped me a lot by playing me and trusting me against the big teams like Leicester City, Southampton and Leeds United,” Rigg revealed. “It wouldn’t have been possible without him.

“I was nervous, but the main thing that he’d say to me every game was ‘enjoy it.’ You’re not going to play well if you don’t enjoy it. That was a big part in me staying at the club because I enjoy coming to work every day - if you can call it that. It’s a dream, it’s what every boy dreams of.”

He comes across as very mature for a 17 year old kid who has just signed his first contract. Where says if you can call it that about it being work, is a good sign aswell. He isn't going to be a Whickham or Rodwell getting a big pro contract cause of a bit of promise at 18 and then neve ****ing bothering again!

I think he must comes across very well to the club aswell as he gets a lot of interviews for such a young lad!

Agreed. Considering the ****e his Dad gets from a lot of online Sunderland fans it may be worth mentioning that he seems to have done a good job bringing his lad up.

Aye and it's worth noting his Dad doesn't seem to care about the mags when it comes to what's best for his lads career!

He seems to be well advised and guided. Imo a young lad signing first pro contract could easily be talked into going for the money by parents.

I just bumped into Dan Ballard in Sainsburys. Had one of those awkward moments where we both went to grab the last sausage roll. I let him have it. He then told me that Speakman doesn't want to sign a striker and that KLD is trying to sell up. I thought it was weird but thanked him and went on my way.

I wouldn’t be giving up the last sausage roll for nobody.
