Or they could sell him as the coach who gave Lorient there highest league finish in a decade.

He lost his best players every window. Moffi, Kone, Ouattara and Le Fee were all big players in that 10th place season and we're sold before this season begun

I don't know whether he will work out here or not, but we just have to back him until he gives us a good enough reason not to anymore.
I back the team, the manager has to earn my backing. He is the club's pick, but then, so was Beale.

One bad season doesn't make you a bad manager but neither does one good season make you a good one.

I'm afraid SAFC have expended all of my good will with relation to manager changes and whoever is incoming will have to earn my backing.

Most went over the summer, big fees fee, but most coming in seemed to be returning and incoming loans, with a few for modest fees.

I have concerns that having come through a system where he had so little say in transfers as people are making out then why is he walking away from there into a similar setup here?

He is still under contract now though isn't he? Is he only being let go now because it generates income for Lorient? If so, it seems like he stayed on because he couldn't walk straight into another job and couldn't afford the compo payable if he walked away.

Is he committed to the Sunderland job or is he coming here as a lifeboat to escape his binding French contract and it would be easier to leave here (especially after last season's multiple changes)?

Base level seems to be he is better at bringing talent through than he is as a team manager/head coach.

All in all it seems he comes with a lot of baggage and I don't really relish unpacking it.

what do you suggest then? We sack him off and start the process all over again because he had a bad season last year and ignore the good season he had?

You sound desperate to not give him a chance here and are reaching truth be told.

One bad season doesn't make you a bad manager
According to you it does

Didn't deserve to be reported or banned for stating his opinion. I'm no cheerleader for him but why not just ignore what he said if you don't like it.
Agree with this but then disagreeing with some likes.

RLB is a bit of an unknown so the best we can do is get behind him and give him time. The thing with Beale was that it was plainly obvious it wouldn’t work, but this one can go either way.

So just give the lad time. It looks like he’ll be backed with staff, and I presume (hope) the same goes with player recruitment.

Enjoy the ride. Haway.

Alex Neil relegated
Sam alladyce relegated
Tony Mowbray relegated
Arson wenger relegated.

the list goes on mate, a relegation doesn’t have to define managers career
But neither is it a shining medal of honour. I want our next manager to succeed and I would be happier had he just come from having achieved promotion rather than relegation.

Do I feel that he is the best manager possible for us? I doubt it, but I am worried that he may be the best manager left available to us out of an ever shrinking pool of managers willing to take us on.

Nothing the club has done over the past year has worked out well for us so you'll have to put up with my reserving judgement of how the current recruitment will turn out.
