Unimpressed and before I would get around to backing him I would like to hear his explanation of his record at Lorient last season.

Finishing 2nd bottom with a record of PL34 W7 D8 L19 F43 A66 Diff -23 Pts 29 does not exactly lean toward any faith in his ability to lead us to success!

Just as importantly, what impression will this appointment have upon our player recruitment?
Can you imagine the spiel, 'Come play for us, we've got a new head coach who drove his previous team to an impressive 20% win rate and relegation last season!'

Even more importantly, will the club give us fans anything to get excited about by finally getting around to signing players to round out the squad - especially up front?

Listened to this BBC Sounds interview about him and heard the SAFC buzzwords Shambles and Disaster, a weak attempt to justify the relegation as due to selling two of his best players in January and the team were never the same afterwards but they were in 17th at the end of December, exactly where they finished at season's end.

Bayern went for company, he only won five games last year.

A certain Vincent Jean Mpoy Kompany had a worse record than that last season
- I wonder what he's up to

There is, but id rather be positive about it until i see what he does with us (if it is him)

Recruiting managers n players isnt an exact science at all, if it was everyone would be succesful with it. Sometimes to find the hidden gems its on the back of them having a bad season but we have identified something in them that would work for us

Hopefully find out more info today

Agree with this, need to back him properly now.

Or they could sell him as the coach who gave Lorient there highest league finish in a decade.

He lost his best players every window. Moffi, Kone, Ouattara and Le Fee were all big players in that 10th place season and we're sold before this season begun

I don't know whether he will work out here or not, but we just have to back him until he gives us a good enough reason not to anymore.

Didn't deserve to be reported or banned for stating his opinion. I'm no cheerleader for him but why not just ignore what he said if you don't like it.
I agree with this. Seems there’s been 2 or 3 posters banned now for nothing more than the mod just doesn’t fancy them being around anymore.

It’s becoming a bit too much of a dictatorship on here. It’s supposed to be a board for everyone not dominated by one or two people.

All his best players were sold and not replaced well at all he was also forced to stay he requested to leave due to the structure of the club
Most went over the summer, big fees fee, but most coming in seemed to be returning and incoming loans, with a few for modest fees.

I have concerns that having come through a system where he had so little say in transfers as people are making out then why is he walking away from there into a similar setup here?

He is still under contract now though isn't he? Is he only being let go now because it generates income for Lorient? If so, it seems like he stayed on because he couldn't walk straight into another job and couldn't afford the compo payable if he walked away.

Is he committed to the Sunderland job or is he coming here as a lifeboat to escape his binding French contract and it would be easier to leave here (especially after last season's multiple changes)?

Base level seems to be he is better at bringing talent through than he is as a team manager/head coach.

All in all it seems he comes with a lot of baggage and I don't really relish unpacking it.

Alex Neil relegated
Sam alladyce relegated
Tony Mowbray relegated
Arson wenger relegated.

the list goes on mate, a relegation doesn’t have to define managers career

If you take this paragraph from the terms and rules literally there'd be about 3 posters left:

"You agree to not use the Service to submit or link to any Content which is defamatory, abusive, hateful, threatening, spam or spam-like, likely to offend, contains adult or objectionable content, contains personal information of others, risks copyright infringement, encourages unlawful activity, or otherwise violates any laws."

Live and let live I say. If I don't like someone or what they say I'll just ignore them/it.

Yeah absolutely, which shows its different rules for different people.

I’ll never forget Exile being banned and it was actually said ‘well he always had a different opinion to everyone else’

I thought that this is what the board was for but you need to toe the party line sort of thing these days.
