What’s confusing about this for me is, if that is what we offered still (I believe you on this) then what is preventing us getting other targets? We were willing to adapt for still (who has a decent cv not spectacular) are we not willing to adapt for others? Just been a bizarre situation from my perspective, apathy starting to take over if I’m honest. Hoping for some positive news over the weekend

I don't. He is very well confident and the Speakman isn't popular.

Not to mention the lad is salt of the earth.

Makes pure sense.
 
In regards to the new head coach would fans rather...

We were absolutely amazing to watch but just miss out on playoffs finishing 7th.

Or be boring to watch and finish 6th.

I see loads of discussions regarding styles of play just curious as to what others think

just feels too convenient to me. And I’m saying that as somebody who believes it to be true.

That’s clearly a lie isn’t it? Still just saying that to random strangers. Stretches credulity to say the least. Sounds like a story a 14 year old tells about their summer holidays.

I would like to counter here.

He is desperate to live back in England. Was here 3 times. AOL twice. Perfect club given the french links and youth development. It was a closed book. Easy deal.

We screwed it.

Still was getting his coaching staff, he was getting a bigger control over transfers but he felt Lens was a better move for his career. It was all agreed, he was going to sign with us and was happy with everything then Lens came along

I get very very little information compared to some on here but this is the 1 piece of info I've been given that was directly from someone involved in the deal. It wasnt someone from the sunderland end, who might have agenda against speakman (of course therell be time when speakmangets things wrong - plenty in the last 12 months). The person that told me it, is someone i have known for years and is involved in football, and he was working on the deal on stills behalf (well part of a team that was)

This confirms for me that Smug's (and others) information, that he/they gave in good faith to help/inform the rest of us, was 'spot on' despite what some who want to cause trouble for him might say . . . . well done all that have been trying to help <applause>

Because if he was so desperate to be in England why not wait for an English club like Burnley to open up
 
I’ll keep saying this until I’m blue in the face.

identify who you want, compromise and be flexible, pay the money and appoint who it is you want.

Lessons will never be learned at that football club, actions speak louder than words.

No counter needed mate. I agree with scouts opinion that the deal was agreed and Lens took him away. I also agree with you that I believe it could have been sorted weeks before Lens were even looking
