Like I said though, he was still backed to the tune of £30m, as well as bringing in a few decent players on a free (Mendy, Bakayoko, Faivre).

His squad was far from one of the worst in the league and he shouldn't have got relegated.

We might very well be paying compensation for a coach who might have got sacked had we not shown interest.
Yeah defo but there might be more at play than that. Like I say moyes came to us and spent money, but the dressing room was poison, club a mess. They year before he got lorient to top half and was linked to Leeds job

And what do you think it's going to be like here? All that shows is that he's not particularly great at finding hidden gems.

Do you think we'll spend £20m+ of the money we'll get for Clarke? Of course we won't.
Was Le Bris in charge of recruitment? I’m sure they have a sporting director

Moyes was part of the reason the dressing room was toxic to be fair though. It was him who brought in Djilibodji and N'Dong.

We should be spending it though. That’s the point of this model, to reinvest what you make. And if it’s true what bob says and we are gonna have a proper go he could be backed well here

It doesn't matter whether he was or not. Fact of the matter is is that he's going to need to be able to take players who cost next to nothing, and turn them into more valuable players. That's how we operate.

So far, he's proven he can't do that...hence why they got relegated.

That's not our model though. Our model is to buy players for a couple of million, sell them for 20m+...then scale it up, whilst running sustainably.

I'd be very surprised if we spend all the money we get for Clarke this summer.

Puppy cuddlers!? Whats wrong with cuddling puppies! :emoticon-0102-bigsm Are you booting puppies about, like?

Would you not argue that’s why his players went for big money because he did do that previous though?

Burnley appointed a new first team coach before a new manager imagine the fume if we did that

He did prove that the season before tho

If we appointed him this time last yr we probably all would be buzzing, they played cracking football the season before n he developed a lot of young players

Last season tho they were boring to watch, went more direct and he really struggled to adapt when things were going wrong

I wouldnt be keen on him as lots of warning signs with how he did last season but he would def get my backing - n hopefully he performs like he did the season before

I’d be surprised if we ever know what the fee we get actually is…..should be great for people kicking off

That's my whole point though. Had his relegation and 10th place finish been the other way around, I'd have been more on board, because it would show that he's able to learn from his mistakes.

Him having a relegation on his CV doesn't concern me, it's us going for him straight after it when we don't know if he's able to react to that.

Sometimes failure is what makes you, but sometimes it breaks you and it's a big risk we're playing by hoping it's the former.

Some times thats when you find the gems tho, bayern munich just appointed kompany on the back of a relegation.

If he backed up his 1st season with another high finish he would have been out of reach. Sometimes its about spotting something in someone that others dont see

Now of course he might struggle but he also could have learnt from last season n come back n even better manager

He is really highly rated for his youth coaching

Actually edited my post before you replied to this and sort of said the same thing.

If it is Le Bris we go for, which it looks like it could be, then obviously we've just got to all get behind him and hope he thrives.

Don't get me wrong, this is all just me airing my concerns, I'll still back him if it is him (what choice will I have), but it worries me that a big portion of our fanbase won't based on that relegation in the season just gone, and it'll turn into another Beale scenario.

From the moment the head coach is announced, they'll have my full backing...but until then, I'm just cautious.
