Here is how I see today going...

We get a video on the the clubs official website. It's Chris Rigg wearing the new home kit for next season. He walks over to a table, sits down and signs his contract. He then shakes the hand of the man opposite him and when the camera pans up, it's not Speakman, it's Marti Cifuentes! <party>

How did that make you feel? I find Hancock to overbearing. He puts himself to far to one side and seems to want to pit himself against one academic community or another. That isnt for me.

In all seriousness I am not a big believer as the evidence doesnt back it up. But I am a romantic and I like to think there are things that science has yet to discover in antiquity. Maybe the under water stuff is most compelling. Although I do believe we should check the Hall of Records to see what the man from Atlantis knew :1980_boogie_down:

I watched 15 minutes of one episode and found it utterly ridiculous. It just seemed like silly fantasy masquerading as fact. I wish I could remember what it was.

I'm not particularly familiar with him other than that one ill-fated watch that had me pulling my hair out.

Edit: think it might have been ancient apocalypse.

It made me feel a bit a dirty <laugh>. If anyone I work with finds out, I might have to go into hiding!

There are definitely things yet to be discovered in antiquity. That's why I love doing to what I do and in that respect, Hancock is right.

His starting point is wrong though, in my opinion. He makes the assumption that the accepted truth is that prehistoric society was primitive. That's not what we (archaeologists) think at all. We think (know) that prehistoric society was hugely complex and sophisticated. But they didn't write anything down and a lot of their material culture was made of organic substances that doesn't survive well, so we haven't got a lot to go on. Once you accept that, all of these things that Hancock says contradict accepted thought, don't contradict it all.

He also misrepresents a lot of the evidence. The glaring example was C14 dates he was quoting. Part of me thinks he knows he's doing that. He also tries hard to make things fit his theory and it doesn't really work.

I think, if you're coming to it completely fresh, he's quite compelling but that's his journalistic background.

Le Bris would be a canny **** appointment, he’s just been relegated.
It's a weird one, managed for two seasons.

22/23 he finished 10th which was quite good for lorient and being linked with the leeds job

then in 23/24 he was relegated.

Some say the board ruined his squad last season but I don't know much about that. He was raved about over there for a long time during 2023

Hopefully it's anounced before i head to the airport in the morning as i'm having a 2 week tech/media break
