I don't necessarily agree that a manager can't change style. Non-league manager I know well went into a relegation-threatened club in the Jan a few years back. After assessing the squad (a few players had left with the managerial change as often happens in non-league) he set them up very defensively and very direct. It was boring, route 1 football. The fans hated it, calling him a cnut and "the non-league Sam Allardyce". It was effective though, and he kept them up with games to spare. The next season, he revamped the squad and played the way he wanted to, which was much more attractive and much more attacking. They had an excellent season and although he left eventually, he's still very popular at that club.

So, I don't see why someone like Rosenior can't adapt a bit become a bit more attacking.

Still does look like a bit odd in comparison to some of the other people that have been linked and a bit at odds with how the squad has been built. I said this some time ago, and I still think it's the case. He was the No. 1 target because of the PR value of bringing him in. When we first linked, his stock was high and a lot of people were talking about him. Landing someone with that kind of profile would have been a statement of intent.
People are talking **** about Rosenior. He has changed style while at Hull and changes style within games.

Looking at who he might bring. Robert Franssen was his assistant at AZ. Still there. Another young lad at 37 or so, but has been kept on. Could we get him too. Left field shout, couls we get Cocu in as a coach. What a footballer he was, and had a side playing some lovely football at Derby. They have worked together. Suspect he bringa one coach in and Dodds stays on as well. No problem personally with Dodds being part of a setup where he is back to being a coach.
Hopefully not Dodds as his assistant.

Quick question kind of related to the hunt for a new head coach.

TM mentioned quite a bit that he found it hard to communicate with certain members of the squad due to language barrier. There is now rumours that one of the things the club want in the new coach is them being able to speak several languages.

With that in mind why do the club not employ a translator? If a translator does their job correctly they are supposed to translate exactly what the person speaking says so this could help communicate and on the grand scheme of wages going out the club I can't imagine it being too high!

(I have worked with translators who were meant to just translate what I was saying and the answer coming back but they had been doing the job for so long they thought they knew better and would try and have the conversation and give me the highlights, so I know that can be an issue)

Think they used a translator with Rusyn and with Jewi.

Sometimes the manager/coach has to play the style demanded by the players at his disposal. He may prefer a different style, but doesn't have the players available to play it to effect. If Pep tried to play his style with less skilful players,it probably wouldn't work.

Exactly. So maybe, in interview, Still was asked if he could/would adapt. Although that would be a little strange.

Maybe Henderson as player coach?
No idea if he is doing any coaching but would be a fabulous addition to the back room. Really well thought of at Liverpool big character in pulling the team together played at the highest possible level Would love to see him brought in If we are talking succession planning he is definitely future manager material

Please please please let's not turn Henderson into Mr Sunderland. He's He's done nothing to earn it. He played maybe 100 games for us and left when a better opportunity came along.

Not a criticism of him. Just a rational as to why we shouldn't treat him like some sort of club icon or the club's prodigal son.

Don’t think anyone is He’s an ex player from the area came through our academy went on to have an exceptional career. But the reason I’d have him back is he has not only got experience of the game at the very highest level but has also developed into a very good leader was loved in the dressing room at Liverpool If he’s looking to go into coaching and settle back in the area would love to see him here

There is definietely gaps in the continuity and that wraps around playing style, in my opinion anyway. The first appointment was Johnson who was regarded as an attacking front foot coach. Then we jumped to Neil who is considered much more pragmatic. To Mowbray who again wants to play attractive expansive football. Those three each, in their own way, moved us forward a large step. Then we land on Beale, again very different. Then we appear focussed on Still.

None of it seems to make sense in terms of how we have built the squad. I still maintain we have built a 433 squad, with lots of technical ability. They will shine under a high possession style. But we go for Still who is not that sort of coach, at least on evidence so far. It does seem like the club do loads of things right and well, but have yet to link them together at first team level to make everything work in tandem.
Great post fella. I thought we'd adopted the city model throughout our squads, playing out from the back in a 4231

I disagree with all this succession talk, going from manager to like, but better, is almost impossible to what's available in a time frame. We should always be looking to improve, I thought Beale nearly pulled it off.
