At this point I'm honestly not sure. Especially if KLD is controlling the head coach search.
Because the system is wrong. He has too much power and too much arrogance but not enough experience at the level he is overseeing.. The system you’re supporting has allowed that and it has to change. No coach European or otherwise is just going to get what they’re given. They want a say in who they’ll be judged on.

The system is not wrong and is in place in many clubs, many a lot more successful than here, because it works. Including where I work and have worked.

The last two sentences are just flat out incorrect, especially in Germany.

But it's not an unusual system. In fact, it's the norm in a lot of places. Speakman might not be a great DoF but the system is sound.

I think where our implementation of the system falls down, is that it seems here that we aren’t picking players which suit a particular style of play. We seem to be just picking players based off future sell on values.

When Speakman joined he had some really good schpiel about having models for each position. But we just haven’t stuck to that at all. Hume and Pembele are very different right back. Hemir and Rusyn very different strikers.

Where the models work well, is where the Technical Director recruits players which suit a particular style, and the head coach plays that style as well. I feel like we don’t have anywhere near that joined up thinking.

My gut tells me that Speakman is the one conducting the search but KLD heavily involved. I think the rumours from earlier in the summer that Speakman was leaving were tosh.
All come from the same people that have said there's a £20m loan secured over the clubs assets (no charges registered at Co's House), Willock has signed for us on a free (he's in talks over a new contract with QPR), that Maric was done (he's not) and that Still is done (remains to be seen). It's a big feed back loop at the minute..

Yeah, I think there's definitely an element of that. Your last para is basically how the system should work.

Definitely has a say though, not a coincidence pretty much every player they sign fits right into his system. Got rid of some pretty big names at Barca and Bayern too to bring in his own players I think didn’t he?
I'm just going off quotes from the man himself, publicly thanked the recruitment team for 'finding' Alvarez and Rodri.

If the directors and head coach are in lock step then it's pretty easy to find players who fit the play style because it's more than likely that the overall play style has been set by the director and they've recruited a coach to implement it.

The problem at our club is we don't have a set playing style and the incoming transfers show that. We have a lot of what I would say are flair and possession based players while we appointed Beale and then Dodds who attempted to implement a defensive approach.

I think £9m a year buys him all the power and arrogance he wants tbh m8. He owns us and keeps us afloat, and for that he quite frankly can do whatever the **** he likes, it’s his business.

Just posted similar. The club doesn't have a playing identity and that's on Speakman.

Have to say, as a defender of Speakman against outlandish claims, this is absolutely bang on.

Feels like we move from short term action to short term action at times. Clearly we have a long term plan with signing up and coming lads but the overall footballing output seems to move on the breeze.

One thing that I could never understand is why we couldn’t sign a young talent or two for the CDM role. I suppose Michut was one but he didn’t stay. It’s a pretty important position to have overlooked. Apologies, I digress.

And as customer I can say what I want and do what I want and if they don’t cameos they’ll lose a lot more custom and income. It’s weak.
