All things considered, I hope its Maric, only because he has knowledge of the English game at a good level. Also his reputation is impressive. That said, Still wouldn't be a disaster appointment.
Not sure on Maric tbh but would appreciate trying something different.
Last 3 roles:
Bayern u19s head coach. Won 7 / drew 0 / lost 6
Leeds assistant - sacked after 1 year
Dortmund assistant - sacked after 1 year
Wouldnt say that I'd feel excited looking at his most recent roles, Still and especially Rohl excite me way more than Maric.
Isn't he under 19s coach and coaching development coach or some such modern jargon.
Don't think he is involved with the first team.
Yeah, I wouldnt necessarily mind someone who hasnt managed a senior team before but I wouldnt say his record looks amazing. Huge risk for a club our size but like I say, I'd appreciate trying something different rather than staying with the cycle of sacked british managers we usually do.Can't say I really see much in Maric to get excited about. Just so damn green.
He only took ok on U19s at the clubs request, to help out, not what he was recruited for iirc.Think he’s only involved with u19s mate
If the two contenders are genuinely Still and Maric, I think we've got a lot to be pleased about. Neither of them are a guaranteed success but it indicates that the club are looking to make a positive, progressive appointment and that some highly rated individuals are interested in coming to the club.
Absolutely, someone in post long-term would be brilliant. If it's to be one of these two,I will be pleased. Of the two,I'd prefer Maric, but, whoever it is,I hope he is still here in 4 years time.
He's also worked with Marco Rose loads. Maric was assistant when he was flying with RB and Gladbach, then onto Dortmund.Yeah, I wouldnt necessarily mind someone who hasnt managed a senior team before but I wouldnt say his record looks amazing. Huge risk for a club our size but like I say, I'd appreciate trying something different rather than staying with the cycle of sacked british managers we usually do.
Off the top of my head, how about Maric as DOF and Still as Head Coach?
that is the big worryHope he’s not just lumbered with Dodds and proctor
This 100%Hope he’s not just lumbered with Dodds and proctor
He doesn’t have a record to look amazing or otherwise as, as you say, he hasn’t had a senior head coach role before. But nor had Rohl seven months ago and nor had McKenna two years prior for example.Yeah, I wouldnt necessarily mind someone who hasnt managed a senior team before but I wouldnt say his record looks amazing. Huge risk for a club our size but like I say, I'd appreciate trying something different rather than staying with the cycle of sacked british managers we usually do.
I can’t say I’m excited by either. Given our facilties, squad potential and support I would expect to see someone with a better pedigree coming in.
Steve Cooper has been mentioned and would be my pick.
People say no chance, but maybe we need to just give him what he wants and go for it.
