Not a fan, really struggled at rangers. Had no real style of play n tactically was poor

I work with loads of rangers season ticket holders n none of them were fans. Good coach by all accts but lacks the man management aspect
This time last year, Michael Beale was hot property - a well respected coach/assistant manager who had done well at QPR. Taking the job at basket-case Rangers (and failing) doesn't suddenly make him a terrible manager.
In my opinion, the club has sufficient credit in the bank with the 2 previous managerial appointments that we should all have a little faith and maybe calm down a bit until there's actually an announcement.
Then if it IS Beale, maybe trust the club. I don't remember too many people celebrating when we appointed Alex Neil or Tony Mowbray, whereas people were jumping up and down when we got Martin O'Neil and we all know how that turned out....

Id 100% back the club if they picked him but hes not someone who has impressed me

I want to see a defined style of play when watching a team, he struggled with that at rangers and none of the players got better under him

He did impress at QPR over a short period of time so he might still be a cracking appointment

His press conferences were pretty poor at rangers - i know you cant judge managers on press conferences but i know what some of our fans are like and will moan about his press conferences

Also - i hated the appointment of martin O'Neil back in the day, wish he had got him earlier in his career but he was done by the time he came to us

What do you lads think of Beale? Am I correct to have major reservations?
Have a lot of pals in Glasgow and from their point of view he was a really good coach. But given the top job he as a style of play and when his system worked it was great but when it didn't he looked lost as did the players. Resulting in batches of really poor results. His style of play certainly fits the bill but seems very inflexible and didn't have a plan B when it mattered. Sounds a bit like Mowbray or more like Johnson. He may have learned but results at QPR and Rangers seem to bear that out. But if its him I'm sure the club has done its research and knows all about he strengths and weaknesses.
To me Dodds has been a breath of fresh air in that respect. Shown more flexibility with both line up and substitutions than I've seen for a long time

Rangers (and indeed Scottish football) is a bit of an unusual situation. There is so much pressure to finish 1st, that if you come 2nd to Celtic you might as well have been relegated. I don't really know much about Rangers, but am checking with my Rangers-supporting mate to see if there's any positives we could take from his appointment.

I was ****ing raging when we appointed Mowbray by the way

What I will say with Beale is that a big part of his problem at Rangers was player recruitment which he was a big part of and it was really poor, that would not be an issue here obviously so he could focus on the coaching.

I personally think it was more about Robertson not coming with him rather than the stage of his career. Like having Clough without Taylor.

Beale actually did okay at the start at QPR. He was offered the Wolves job, and went very big publicly in saying he couldn't leave the players as they had committed in the way get asked them, saying he was " all in" too.

He was gone in a fortnight, and was a rabbit in the headlights at Rangers according to people I know up there.

If it's him, it's him, but he seems more like a background sort of guy to me.

His name was mentioned several times last week but then vanished from the rumour mill.

As has the guy who's worked wonders at Schalke 'B' or Eric Roy. If it's not Still or Hellberg, and we are being linked with the likes of Beale, the Schalke guy, in particular, has got to be worth a punt.

Why is everyone losing their **** over Beale? Just because someone claims his odds have shortened? The bookies only shorten odds when a few people place a bet. There's no actual insight

I could stick £5000 on Steve Bruce and his odds would shorten dramatically. Would everyone start believing he's the next HC?
On this forum, Yes.
