I think by playing the same defence after leaking so many goals and not making any subs till 65 mins shows he's a poor touchline operator imo.
Doyle needs to be taken out of the line of fire for a rest and for his own good as he's just a kid. Alves should be given a chance.
Kids will get you so far but when the going gets tough they don't know how to cope.
Having said that our experienced players have let them down.
It's men against boys every week.

And Its week after week as you say, its a balance of course it is , and this is a forum to put your take on the game forward, I keep banging on about Younger and it may be that he is not as good as those chosen and persevered with, but under the right circumstances he should be given a chance, such chances have been spurned even when obvious. And thats a good shout on Alves by the way, we have a good crop of understudies that should be tried, maybe more than we have seen so far.

Charlatan • \SHAHR-luh-tun\ • one making usually showy pretenses to knowledge or ability : fraud, faker.

Someone else on here quoted a snake oil salesman ( The Outlaw Josey Whales is one of my favourite films) and that just about sums him up for me.
In answer to your question I think he is a quack , its just an opinion , not based on any science, just a gut instinct. I may be wrong you may be right (Johnny Rotten). Time will tell, but as in politics its often difficult to see the wood for the trees.
I got told I was wrong three games into Moyes reign, look how that turned out.

Weaver and Thirwell are at Harrogate as manager and assistant manager.
Oh right! That's maybe why I don't recall Thirlwell on it that much. I've just looked it up and the others were Neil Smith at Bromley, John Still and Hakan Hayrettin at Maidstone Utd, Ben Strevens at Eastleigh, and Craig Hignett when he was at Hartlepool.

LJ has gone from putting all the subs on together in one go to the total opposite.
Obviously somewhere in the middle is needed. Especially when continually getting walloped.
I think the main problem is confidence...or lack of with regards to the players. Alot of them are too young and haven't been through this before. Therefore it's the managers job to take one or 2 out of the line of fire for now cos it won't help them by continually getting hammered.

This link has 10 pages of current manager coaches without a job

https://www.transfermarkt.com/trainer/verfuegbaretrainer/statistik

There are some great names who have performed very well for lower clubs and big ones who are looking for a job, there are a few who i think we would have been talking to, so the ones who caught my eye are

Lucian Favre
Frank de Boer
Mark van Bommel
Jurgen Klinsmann
Sam Allardyce
Albert Celades

This is the big question.
Bring in an old name to get us promoted or stick with the new structure and program.
Personally I think we should push on with a radical backroom structure where LJ is just another cog in the wheel
revamp the first team coaching structure and bring in some coaching experience to help / complement LJ
Loved how Brentford brought in Thomas Frank as an assistant coach and now he's managing in the Prem.
If their data models can identify up and coming new players then they should be able to do the same for coaches.

Only problem with this is it might take a couple of years to get it right

FellTop is the one with the real knowledge. I'd hate to think I came across as thinking I know more than anyone else. I don't, I'm just overly obsessive and read as much as I can about the game and like to share that. I've been lucky enough to get myself into a position where I get to hang out with the coaching staff at a semi-pro club so, admittedly, I parrot a lot of what I pick up from them.
Cheers fellas, but I am just a normal bloke who loves footy like everyone else on here and am no expert. To prove that many moons ago watching Southend at Roker i confidently predicted Brett Angel would be better than Collymore <laugh><laugh>

The great thing about posting here is the different opinions and the beauty of an opinion is it cant be wrong.

I fear for Johnson if we get beat a la Pompey/Rotherham/Sheff Wed in a home game against Ipswich. Not sure that he survives that scenario.

I've not been convinced by him throughout his time here but was enjoying the football in matches I'd seen this season before the Pompey game even though his tendency to try and sit on the lead made for a nervy last 15 mins or so in most of them.

What may help him is the apparent lack of an available alternative who would be prepared to work within the current structure who would more or less guarantee promotion. Don't see Wilder being prepared to come down to League 1 or have other people buying his players for him and I'm not convinced in him if truth be told.

I hope he uses these cup games wisely and rests Stewart in particular and has a look at the likes of Younger, Alves, Taylor, Kachosa, Dyce, Wearne and Harris.

Hope we can come fback after the international break fresher and focussed so that we can avoid another mid season reshuffle. That said he needs to get positive results in the league quickly or KLD will be left with no choice.

Was sat with a forest and coventry fan at work today talking footy. They asked why the wheels had fallen off (their words). I said I thought it was a confidence thing in a youngish team but the forest fan said he thought our manager wasnt up to much. We talked about forest have bounced under Cooper and he said it is the same players but they look different under a new manager - more energy was his words. The cov fan said there had been crap periods under Robins when they wondered what he was doing but now they wouldnt swap him and he is the heartbeat of their club. Not sure what it means but you can stick or twist and be right I suppose. I know I would take Robins over Hughton though.

I think Ipswich could be a turning point. 3 defeats in a row isn't great, but 2 of them were away games against strong teams and almost forgivable. If we start losing home games then I think the chop might come. Maybe not as soon as Ipswich but not long after. Our home form was masking our weaknesses away from home...
