He would still have been here if he'd been able to use the carrot as well as the stick.

I am probably not as fond of Keane's time here as many. Certainly when I look back I dont think wow, those were great days. That doesnt mean I think he did a bad job as I think he did a good one. Promotion and survival were a pivotal couple of seasons.

We had a good run in the championship to get promoted. And he largely brought in players he knew to do it. We played some decent stuff without being breathtaking. He did well to get the likes of Gordon and Jones in the prem but I think were a bit one dimensional in terms of hitting Jones and playing from there. We got better when Richardson and Bardsley were in, but again it never got me raving.

There were incidents that made me cringe. Calling Warner a clown wasnt great at all, even if you think it. Leaving lads behind who were late for the bus, makes a statement but again I think it was poorly thought through (if at all).

I would have liked him to stay and push on with Short and I suspect he regrets bailing out. He didnt though and that says more about him than anyone else I think.

I am grateful for the turnaround he produced. That said I enjoyed football much more under Reid and Smith, and Bruce to be fair for a while. I am hopeful the current gaffer will get us enjoying the game more too.

He had high expectations and standards (a good thing), but not the experience to mange those expectations properly (or round the edges off his character/style). Still thought he was great though.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching that. For all he's a but of a nutcase, he can be very likeable and funny. Think he's probably learned a lot from his stint in management and should get another shot - his point about serial failures getting jobs is bang on. Look at Bruce as an example.
