I just finished watching The Investigation on iplayer, the story of the investigation into the guy with the homemade submarine in Denmark and where a female journalist was killed. It's worth watching, a bit drawn out in places, but nevertheless very interesting. Particularly the Cadaver Dogs who amazingly can detect gases from human flesh even when it's at the bottom of the ocean.
I just finished it, it really does make you wonder the quality of the detectives there. However, having all these different police forces, who seem to be trying to outdo the others, and not sharing info doesn't help. Having said that we did cover ourselves in glory with the Yorkshire Ripper investigation.
If you haven’t seen it, watch In and Of Itself. It’s available on the streaming service Hulu. It’s ****ing brilliant. I hadn’t seen the stage shows but I’ve heard brilliant reviews and this film just blew me away.
Watched the first episode of Hinterland last night, really enjoyed it, but like Vera but in trousers with a Welsh and not North east one. The blonde copper was very east in the eye but I wouldn’t push the other one out of bed, nudge nudge wink wink as they say.... well worth a watch.... ps. the scenery was beautiful, a bit wild, just how I like my scenery.....
I watched Nomadland last night - it's a genuinely, brilliant piece of observation of modern life from the Chinese born director Chloe Zhao. Frances McDormand plays a 60 something working her way through the gig-economy - her third best actress Oscar should be nailed on with this performance. edited to add - not on Netflix (sorry).
On Walter Presents on All 4 a new 10 parter Bullets from the team behind the Killing and The Bridge. So it sounds as it it will be good. That is my Saturday night sub titled enjoyment sorted as I binge watched Spiral. Scandi subtitled stuff and a few beers. As good as Saturday nights get in these lockdown times. https://www.channel4.com/programmes/bullets
Nice one. You are now entirely responsible for my wife sniffling for a good hour. She'd watch it again right now. I'll just say that he's a likeable chap with a polished script, excellent sleight of hand with a knowledgeable manipulation of cards with a propensity for playing a crowd. And yes, I saw the elephant.
Finished off watching Marcella, which got loopier by the episode, and then watched the first 4 3pisodes of Bullets on All 4. Shaping up very well though like all Scandi ones the interior shots are so gloomy as to make things difficult to make out at times.
