Enlighten me
well...you see when you said that Catholic schools were the only faith schools.....you were totally and utterly wrong.
Then you misunderstand the point.
Not missing the point at all ... seeing as I went to a RC Primary and a RC Secondary! The wife went to "non-dom" schools.
Non-dom schools teach religious eduction as well...from all points of view. However, I don't think this is necessary - especialy at a young age.
In my opinion, the teaching of ANY religious doctrine shouldn't be taight in our schools.
There are many arguements to this...not a place for me to discuss with strangers on an internet forum.
If a priest has a say in who teaches at a state funded school, then it's wrong. It is, by definition, sectarian.
This issue was highlighted on Newsnight last night.
Joke McConnell was on and Paxman quizzed him for justification of sectarian schooling.
"it would cause more bitterness to do away with it and there is a tradition of it."
Pathetic.
Get them scrapped.
Still tired mate?
Have a coffee![]()
I don't want to get into what goes on in the school.
It is the simple fact that if you split children at that age, and keep them apart in their formative years, purely based on the religious beliefs of their parents, then you are contributing to the US and THEM culture.
It's not hard to understand is it Dev?
You will also notice that Faith Schools have been the subject of the week on FF and somehow the discussion finds it's way on here. Girvan just picks up a number of ill-informed opinions off there and regurgitates them straight on here.

You seem to be obscured by bitterness Dev.
Joke McConnell accepted they were part of the sectarian issue, he admitted he could not or would not change them because of the bitterness and bile he would recieve from the catholic community.
If they were just another type of school, why would there be so much objection to integration?
The Irish/Catholic diaspora in Scotland, no matter how many generations removed, claim victim status. They claim they are treated differently and not accepted. Well why struggle to remain different? Why stick by a 'tradition' of dividing your children from other along religious divides?
There is an answer to those Bitter traditionalists, Pay for it yourselves.
It's their choice after all.

Whataboutery. Typical.

Whataboutery. Typical.
Unable to come back with a decent and intelligent response.
Sadly, to be expected.
