After the war, German industry had to modernise while Britain limped on with decades old equipment. As a result, the Germans became and remain the strongest economy in Europe. It's the Germans that the rest of Europe are looking to to bail them out of their financial woes, not Britain.

As for free world, I had to bin all my hardcore porn before moving back to this nanny state with its Puritanical laws. <wah>

They've won more world cups, more Olympic medals, have a better standard of living than we do and carry more weight on the world stage. More to the point you're banging on about democracy - how in the name of **** do you think Hitler got elected - yep - a free election <doh>

Yeah,I know he got elected,but once he got into power Democracy vanished.
Britain will always be better than Germany.
