Stalin was indeed a ****. He basically won the war through the sheer disregard for the lives of his infantry. But the Germans enjoying the tide of the war was ended when the Russians prevents the Germans capturing stalingrad within the first month of their advance on the city. This meant that the germans could not rely on their blitzkreig tactics and had to fight a more traditional war which they still were better at but the numerical advantage of the russians was simply too much. The tide of the war was turned in 1943 when they force the Germans into a retreat/rout from Stalingrad.
Just strange that most people believe America won the European war with D-day when in reality the Russians had turned the tide of the war a year previous. Hitler had to commit huge resources to trying to stem the Red Army's advance on Germany. This turned the Western front into a cakewalk once they got off the beaches

All countries that stood up against Nazism did their bit. No-one here doubts the contribution of Russia but if you think they won it single handedly then you are a buffoon.
