Our nest box was visited by a couple of Great Tits but one was slightly overweight so they didn't stay... we were gutted. Had them nesting last year, and Blue Tits the year before

Just googled and it wasn't a goldfinch. I think it was a male yellowhammer, which was cool. Not come across those before.
No mate, that’s a Skylarksounds like a yellowhammer (scribbly jacks as some called them) best seen when you are out over fields, they take off and fly vertically up singing their song...sadly hear very few now.
