I've threatened to not attend in the past should we become Hull Tigers. However, I feel I would become lost on a Saturday without going to the KC/away game, so I would probably end up attending, albeit through gritted teeth. Unless I started taking an interest in egg chasing.
Couldn't stop going if I wanted to....which I don't. Same owner..same players...same stadium... Same nickname....same manager...same colours...same home city.... Right or wrong to me it's just a little name change... Last season...and this season have been a huge positive for me....NOTHING to do with league we are in...
Seriously hope you change your mind...Hell you can still call the team Hull City....everyone can if they want...just keep going....keeping singing city songs... There really is so many more important things in life then the name change... Will PLT stop going....or OLM Seriously interested in who won't go anymore.. Hoping no one stops going...
Hmmmm If Germany had managed to win in WW2 and invade us , we 'd have same street names, same friends, same family, probably same flag, same language, same food, same home city Juts a little ID change. Life would have gone on. Would you have tolerated that?
Sport Comment: Rich owners really can tell fans to go to Hull ONE day you suspect Roman Abramovich will get tired of owning a football club and the Kings Road will be the scene of the first demonstration in this country by die-hard fans begging a billionaire owner not to leave. âNever mind the manager and the players,â the Chelsea faithful will chant. âWe need your money.â âOK,â he could say, âIâll stay, but the club will have to be rebranded Red Star Chelsea Dynamo to fit in with my business interests in Russia.â This past week, Southampton fans have been getting themselves into a right state about the clubâs future, fearing their clutch of England stars may leave following a change of ownership. Further north, the battle lines are hardening between supporters and another zillionaire who wants to change his clubâs name from Hull City to Hull Tigers for marketing reasons. Meanwhile in Wales, the Bluebirds of Cardiff these days play in red because thatâs what the owner demanded. Money talks in football like never before. The Premier League trophy that Manchester United won in May is currently being paraded through Mumbai to promote the clubâs profile before heading for a month-long tour of the United States. If chairman Daniel Levy decrees the only way to compete in that global Premier League is to rebrand Tottenham as the North London Spurs, then that is what they will become. If the new Southampton regime wants to call the team the Solent Saints, and the alternative is relegation and financial meltdown, do the fans have any option but to accept if they want to carry on playing with the big boys? The moment any club opens its door to super-rich owners from all corners of the earth, the deed is done. In return for possible glory and dining at the gameâs top table, the supporters lose the right to determine the clubâs destiny. âIf youâre not happy about that then take your custom elsewhere,â is the simple riposte. Which is why what is happening on Humberside at the moment is probably just the tip of the iceberg of what will happen in the future on planet football. The owners really can tell the fans to go to Hull. http://www.cityam.com/article/1390190338/sport-comment-rich-owners-really-can-tell-fans-go-hull Reality bites. I confidently predict this thread will not be moved as Stewey has posted many such articles on anti name change and they havent been moved.
The SMC has a 50 year lease. Assem Allam could try and hand the lease back but the council wouldn't have to accept. The SMC would then be liable for keeping the KC up to standard until the lease ran out. The only income it would have would be from Hull FC and whatever offices it could let. The SMC currently pays a percentage of its profits to Hull City Council, no profit no rent. If Hull City move out it would cause Assem Allam a huge headache as he'd may end up paying for the upkeep of one stadium and whilst building another.
There'll be a drip drip effect of these articles from now on I reckon. Think Invers plays squash actually.................
We had the same problem yesterday with Jimmy Saville. He used his fundraising as a shield to prevent anyone questioning him. No one said that AA was a nonce. Today, I am making the analogy that if all is hunky dory with a minor change of ID, then people would be happy to live in Gross Britannien. We'll have our history but as long as we can all live our lives in our cities, have the same mates, watch the same tv, who really cares?
If I lived in England I'd still be attending. As it is I'll continue supporting, whatever the name. I've never supported another Club in 65 years and I never will.
