Name the three most important attributes needed in a footballer to make a team a top team minus the obvious like fitness/quality.
For me:
1) Intelligence - look at the top teams, they’re intelligent in everything.. marking, when to play the right pass, when to shoot to name a few. Not to dig but look at Longstaff? His football IQ is so ****.
2) Positioning - So important. Look at Man City and the old Spain/Barca team.. they all knew when to press, together or individually. Smothering the opposition to retain the ball as soon as possible.
3) Control - a bit similar to the top 2, the control in all aspects. The control in their technique when passing/shooting.. look at how brilliant Bernardo Silva/Saka etc control their passing and shots. Then there’s controlling the game.. seeing a game out when it needs to be seen out. We have so many sloppy players, like Miggy.. his technique just isn’t upto par.
If I was a manager these would be the 3 attributes I’d look for.
Please Howe just buy a couple of intelligent players with a sprinkle of quality to bring the team on. Not idiots.
