I have to own up... I was not keen on him, I thought he was a bang average, miserable so and so of a manager. He might have a thing for jaffa cakes, but he has us playing some great and very watchable football. All credit to him. As my wife often says, you are/were wrong. The recruitment team has now to pull a couple of rabbits (strikers) out of the hat in the next few games, and back the manager.
Had my reservations at first but have to say he’s smashed it so far. He seems perfect for the clubs new vision of developing young talent and giving them a chance when they are good enough. Pretty sure some managers just refuse to play kids based on their age. Nice to have a manager who seems to be in complete agreement with the club vision, also seems unlikely to stab us in the back like the last manager. Very exciting times ahead.
I think he is the man for the job, done well so far, not sure he is the perfect fit ,but we will see how far he can take us in the long run that,s the true test all managers face.
His strengths, promoting the youth in the team, align very much with the clubs long term plan. Overall he has been a success so far, and I will admit that I like him much more than I thought I would have
He's been managing a long time. He's had big clubs and smaller clubs. Clubs in chaos and those well ran. He's happy to play and develop young players, and his teams have always played good football. Nowt going on here he hasn't seen before. He's not a youngun, but he is known for embracing modern methods He's a good fit I'd say, and the players clearly play for him.
Saw footage on FB of him welcoming Gelhardt in his office, said 'we have been pushing for you all week', must have made the lad feel very wanted Mogga was very pleased he was there, and the lad could clearly tell Fits in with him saying the players have to be made to feel they are 'special',
You can tell how they are all playing that he is doing a great job with them , not an easy task, but so far he has been brilliant, the talk of unrest in the dressing room has rightly been silenced . Well done Tony Mowbray.
He's on the Not top 20 podcast and comes across really well. Talks about player development, worth a listen - it was on 2 days ago, I watched it on youTube
I was a bit sceptical when he was appointed, I thought he was old school and wasn't convinced he would be a good fit......but **** me was I wrong. Love the way he talks about the game and he absolutely fits the way the club want to go forward.
Mowbray was not my choice, in fact he wouldn't have been on the long list never mind the short list. Couldn't stand him when he was WBA manager HOWEVER I am a total convert. I love the bloke, he's like everyone's favourite Grandad and his mixes quiet authority with an absolute desire to be here. The football we are playing is better than anything I've seen at this club and had he not been dealt such a **** hand with injuries he could have had us comfortably top 6. He has a touch of the Bobby Robsons about him
Would be pushing the top 3 close if he had Stewart and Simms all season without injuries or Everton being silly ****ers imo. He is doing a cracking job under the circumstances (nee strikers) whilst also having about 67546 goal of the season contenders.
Absolutely. I just hope we can keep this squad together - Stewart is out for God knows how long, then we lose Amad at the end of the season. Really hope we exercise our option on Michut - the kid looks the real deal. Rigg looks a player too
That's a really bad one for Rossco. I wish it was in hamstring that went rather than his achillies tbh. I think Rigg could be class in the Pritchard role, looks to have great workrate and can put a tackle in as well as having the quality. On Amad.....not a clue how we would replace that level of quality tbh. He is off the scale for the Championship. Speakman will be busy on the phone I'm sure.
I've felt down all day, like I do after a bad defeat. You are right re Roscoe I had the same emotion - at first it was reported as hamstring and now I wish they had been right. Hoping we'll get some good news tomorrow, but in my gut I'm thinking we might not see him again this year
I'm expecting about 8-10 months in the hope he is back in 6 tbh. He won't be having a pre season so that puts us Christmas until he is anywhere near back to form. Gutted for the lad, hopefully he signs a new deal in the meantime. I'm not sure if the injury strengthens or weakens the club/player etc.
Was thinking about his contract and this injury (plus the other one) surely weakens his position. By the end of the season he will have stared 11 games in the 2nd tier of English football and missed 35 games through injury. Certainly PL clubs will be waiting 6 months or more to see how he comes out of this and whether he's still the same player. It be sensible on all parts to exercise the extension on current terms and see where we are in August
