Expected timeline of Bristol City player departure emerges
Bristol City midfielder Adam Nagy is set to join Serie B side Pisa in a move that could be completed later today, according to the Bristol Post (23/08, 10:46).

Despite impressing for Hungary in Euro 2020, the midfielder has featured just once for the Robins this season and has not been included in a single Championship matchday squad.
The 26-year-old’s Ashton Gate career appears to be nearing its conclusion and he is understood to have asked to leave the club.
Reports in Italy revealed late last night that he was set to join Pisa and is set to sign a three-year deal with the Serie B outfit.

The 26-year-old’s Ashton Gate career appears to be nearing its conclusion and he is understood to have asked to leave the club.
The Bristol Post has since reported that Nagy’s departure is expected to be wrapped up soon and could be completed later today.
The midfielder never managed to consistently produce his best in Bs3 and struggled to translate the form that has made him pivotal to the Hungary national team into a City shirt.
In all, he’s made 62 appearances for the Robins – scoring three times and adding four assists
This looks like the right move for all parties involved, with Nagy clearly out of favour under Nigel Pearson.
With just a year left on his deal, it makes sense for City to offload him now – particularly if that allows them to sign more players before the end of the window.
The arrivals of Andy King and Matty James means that the Robins have plenty of midfield options but strengthening at right-back, on the wing, or upfront would make a lot of sense.
It’s a shame to see the Hungarian go because he showed signs of settling in at Ashton Gate last season but you feel it is likely for the best, with the player returning to Italy where he’s played arguably the finest football of his club career.
City supporters will want to see their club capitalise on his exit by strengthening the squad before the end of the window.

Bristol City remain keen to secure potential transfer swoop for £1.5m-rated forward
Bristol City still remain interested in securing a potential move for Rotherham United forward Michael Smith before the summer transfer window closes, according to Bristol Live.

Nigel Pearson’s side have been aiming to try and bolster their attacking options throughout the summer transfer window but they have yet been able to add to their squad in that area. That comes after the departure of Famara Diedhiou at the end of his contract earlier on in the summer.
It had been reported earlier on in the summer transfer window that Bristol City were interested in making a move for Smith after the forward had fired home ten goals in 44 Championship appearances for Rotherham last term.
The latest report from Bristol Live has revealed that Pearson remains keen on bringing in a forward that is more in the traditional number nine mould to support Chris Martin. That comes amid recent links to Arouca forward Andre Silva.
It is believed that the Robins also remain interested in securing a move for Smith with Rotherham set to demand £1.5 million for the 29-year-old if he is to be sold.

The verdict
Signing Smith would be an excellent potential move for Bristol City to make at this stage in the summer transfer window with the forward a player that would be able to bring a lot to the table for the Robins in the final third and take some of the pressure off Martin’s shoulders.
The 29-year-old will be a key player for Rotherham this season in League One and he has already managed to score one goal and provide one assist for the Millers in their opening four league games.
Therefore, Bristol City are likely going to have to come in and meet the League One side’s full £1.5 million valuation now if they are to sign him because time is running out for them to find a replacement if he leaves.
The Robins need to show that are prepared to back Pearson in the transfer market and Smith is clearly a player that Pearson believes can improve his existing options. Therefore, it would make sense for Bristol City to make a late move for the 29-year-old.

I remember when you said that about Pearson, it only took 5 years for you to be right, so I won't hold my breath on this signing.... I'm surprised Nagy couldn't attract a better deal than a L2 side in Italy tbh?

But he is here as said and turning the show around big time-I actually have enjoyed the football so far.

We have very different opinions of big-time... I see a subtle improvement on the end of last season so far. We still struggle to defend for 90 mins, and to score goals, so certainly nothing to be raving about just yet! If we look at the league table, we're actually 8 points worse off than this time last season after 4 games

Majority off fans can see a noticeable difference in the football. So much better on the eye.

... this.

Let's hope he's a tower of strength for them, but they don't lean on him too much......

(I'll get my coat.... <whistle>...)

I'm not, it's the state of the market at our level, I am not surprised we never got a fee, let's put it this way I suspect the football world at large and now BCFC know something about his make up as a person, this is a player who was going to set the world alight when he started out and has failed to do so other than internationally and it's that playing for his country that first set at odds with LJ.

You might from afar but folk who have gone, so far, have seen an improvement albeit results.
I'm more hopeful this season after watching Reading and Swansea than I was just a few weeks ago.
Tbf very early days.

Again, I must stress; I'm not knocking NP - and even I can recognise from my Swindon bedroom that the football has become more 'entertaining', but at the end of the day it's a results business and I stand by my comment that I'd rather have a boring win than entertaining defeat.

I know which fans you mean.... Yes, it's better than the crap served up by Holden and indeed NP last season, but no better than the pre-COVID break football. Easy on the eye is often easy to beat, as we are seeing. Points win prizes.!!

If you truly believe that then fine, that is not the way myself and a majority of fans remember it. The rot set in over 120 games ago and we have barely won one third of those games.

We as a club are paying the price for allowing the the recruitment to become dysfunctional, left with too many players with ego's bigger than their talent and not putting in a shift and now we are struggling to give away some of them still on our books.

However for the first time in a generation the young talent is getting a chance and that is progress.

I accept that covid did not help, but that is no excuse for what was allowed to happen pre covid and has led to this. The Kalas problem is complex and personal and I hope that he stays, but I will be surprised if he does. For me Moore and Wells can go, Moore is probably not consistent enough and Wells is on a huge wage and has been poor for ALL 3 managers, 15 goals in 65 games is shocking, it was a poor signing, made in desperation and sums up how dysfunctional our recruitment had become.
